| Before I order parts, I would like some of the experienced guys input for my 1983 Z50r restomod. Some details: -Plan to keep the color Blaze red with original decals. -Will be making some adult friendly mods, Bars, suspension, engine, and street tires, shifter, pegs I have most parts, all I need left is to decide on suspension (front/rear) and decide on a painter. I would really like to hear some suggestions from some of the experienced guys on this forum as far as suspension set up. I would like to raise the height just a tad from original. Front suspension: +1 HD fork springs only +1 HD spring snd +1 lower legs and bushings? Rear: I would really like a +1 swingarm to compliment a stronger motor. Any suggestions on a +1 swingarm besides having to cut one up and welding an extension on it? What size rear suspension to fit a +1 swing arm and possible +1 front fork legs? I did consider an XR80 swingarm, but have determined that it is too big and will not fit the look I am going for which is an almost restored bike with adult friendly upgrades. Thanks for all your help, I'm eager to get this project complete so I can begin my Z50r full mod (will keep tank and frame only). Any suggestions I can get to keep from making any costly $$ mistakes will be most welcomed. |

With a +1 swingarm. You'll only need +1 up front. So just springs up front seems like it would match what you are looking for. There are expensive Japanese swingarms available that come in many many sizes, but If I wanted a +1 swingarm I'd go with the one from Fast 50's. Based on what you're telling me, I think you can get everything you need from here. Fast50s.com "The Original xr50 Specialist" - Performance Parts Z50 |

| Re: suspension suggestions for Z50r Nice, I didn't know F50's made a swingarm for the Z50. I'm not interested in japanese swingarms for this build as I'm trying to keep it "appearing" like an 83 Z50r. So the only complaint I would have with the F50's swingarm is that it is square tubing. Perhaps my best option is to just cut and weld my existing swingarm to add the extra length (then I can legally say I "fabricated" something on the bike) . I was hoping that someone would chime in with some old model bike I was not familiar with that already had a +1 swingarm. I guess the only cannibalizing I can do is the XR80 and at +4, it's too long for my taste. |
