I screwed myself today. I was going through the NICE motor to put in all new gaskets in hopes to stop the oil leak that ive been having. I really wanted a clean running motor for the Laguna seca meet next weekend so it was time to get it done. Well in the process of tearing down the motor when i got to removing the clutch i didn't remove the pressure pate evenly and it snapped. Knowing that i wont be able to get a replacement in time i just right into installing the 95cc that i just finished for the hardtail into the monkey. Its in there and running quite well. It will hold over just fine for the weekend. I have to say it does look a little strange with out a nice motor in it. ![]() ![]() Last edited by reynolds_brad; 07-12-2008 at 10:55 PM. |

damn... I still can't seem to fathom a 95cc in a hardtail. That should be one hell of a handful.

I know you are a purist, but any idea if a chinese plate would work as a band aid until you could get a real one? GPX style. No idea if the dimensions work out between a NICE and the chinese motors, but its a thought...

Brad, I checked the box from Justin and I do not have the part you need. There are some clutch parts but of course, not the one we need. |

No worries zbbt, i just sent a email to a friend that works with a lot of nice motors and he said hes got a few spares in stock. So im all good and i should have the 137cc back up and going in a few weeks. having the bike out in 95cc form a few times now I must say im presently surprised with the power output. I had it up to a solid 60mph last night and its got a little left in it. I think its still a little over geared at this point at 15/28 cause it slows slightly on some of the SF hills around my house. No matter it should do fine for the weekend get away how it is.

thanks for the reply, how fo you like the 95 overall? i am currently building that same motor setup for a more top-end power oriented motor. is it a revver? and overall I take it the power is behind it to scoot around quite well? sorry for the questions I just havent found too many people with 95's

So far so good, however im still used to and fond of the 137's torquie lower RPM grunt. The reason i built the 95 was for the hardtail im putting together and my thought about it as if it geared right it would be perfect for the hardtail. Being that it would in my assumption not have too much bottom end power and produce most of its power in the upper RPM range. As far as i can tell my predictions were correct. It feels like a typical 88cc race head for the first few thousand RPM then comes on much stronger and revs like a MotherFer. Pretty sure it would stomp just about any of the 88ccs ive had in the past in a drag race. Fitted to the hardtail i dont think ill have to worry too much about it flipping on its back side at the crack of a throttle. I really dont know how people can ride the hardtails with 124s and such. I think their nuts. If i were building a 95 for any other application out side of what ive done with the flywheel, rockers, porting, etc. ide definitely go with a manual clutch that moves it off the crank. I'm sure it would spin even better that way. As i was saying right now its running 15/28 gearing and with the monkey 4 speed i think it would be much more hill friendly with something like a 15/32 setup, which is probably what ill end up running when it ends up where it was built to be.
