Three questions

1. Why is Arlindsay called "Quoke" (Qwoke)?

2. Can we cuss on this forum if we use Spanish cuss words, maybe out of context so they are very funny?

3. Is there any reason at all to consider a Powroll-modified, Honda-based stroked crank over a TB one or Dr. ATV one, or similar? Is there a durability difference either way to justify (or crucify) the astounding price difference?

I think it actually means "Until the eggs," which makes much more sense. Another useful salutation is "Oye sus huevos," which I think means "Listen to your eggs."

Ducatilover: ??? Two enjoyable online translations of that: "Because you are going to pay so much fair by a chingadera done in China? You be not guey and purchase the but inexpensively," and
"Because you go to paid as much fair by a chingadera done in Chinese? You are not guey and buys but the cheap one."

I'm pretty sure I can work out what a chingadera is, since I know that "Chingar" is the infinitive form of a Spanish word meaning "to join in reproductive union," more or less.

This reminds me of a story I was told once where someone fed the Beatles' "Hard days night" lyrics into some online translator: "It has been the night of a hard day, and I, like a dog, was operated."

I think you are thinking of "cojer" which can mean: to grab or to join in reproductive union.

And "hasta los huevos" does translate to "until your eggs"

LOL

Re: Three questions

Mexican: I know some on the forum have called you the "King of points". In spanish, that translates to "El rey de los puntos" not to be confused with "El rey de los putos"

Forgetting to type in that "n" makes mucho difference.

Its no different less than English. It just sounds worse when you cuss in a foreign language.

Re: Three questions

how about cussing in an asian language? Like maybe one of the languages spoken in Philippines? Ofcourse some of what they consider cuss words in Tagalog aren't cuss words to us when translated to English, or is that some of thier insults when translated to English aren't considered insults.

Re: Three questions

"El Rey de los putos"...I like it.

But would I alienate less people by calling myself "El Rey de las putas?"

Re: Three questions

Could "...fat pendejo..." be considered somewhat the same as "...El Gordito..."?

Re: Three questions

I think "El Gordito" translates to "the little fat one," more or less, and maybe has a trace of affection to it, kind of like Roscoe P. Coltrane calling Boss Hogg his "fat little buddy."

"Fat Pendejo" is more derogatory than that, I think because it states that the recipient is both overweight and similar to a male reproductive organ.

Re: Three questions

Hmmm. My spanish has been in the "use it or lose it" pile for decades and comes mostly from living in central Mexico for a few years as a kid. I was fluent then but obviously not now. College Spanish courses didn't bring it all back either.

"Pendejo" is ass-end-related, huh? Damn. I've been mis-insulting people all these years?

yeah.I took a couple of college courses and got B's...so I just married my own Mexican....and if I say something to her that I have heard somewhere and she slaps or quits talking to me, I know I have said something that I should not have

Re: Three questions

See, I don't want to be overly combative here but can't you see the opportunity you're missing there? In that situation you've opened up an avenue to really learn something about the culture. She'll come around when she sees you're a student of sociology at heart, plus you'll have some cool new words before long if you keep it up.

One of my friends was looking at a decor idea my wife had for our living room and remarked that it looked "tiiii-hiii-hiiiiitts!" the other day, and my wife got that squiggly-line mouth of distaste, but hey, she may pull that expression out one day and blow everyone's mind. I will do joyous cartwheels if I ever hear my wife say something is "tiii-hiii-hitttts."
