Tips on putting in fork bushings

I am about to buy a set of those fork bushings on ebay to get rid of this stupid slop. Just wondering what steps it takes to do? I already purchased snap ring pliers. What grease should I use? Any tips or pics would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Tips on putting in fork bushings

drop the front wheel, remove the 2 bolts up top by the handle bars that go down in the fork tubes, pull the boots down, remove the snap rings, and pull the assembly out. when they are out, there will be a collar just under where the leg and the spring meet. remove the roll pin from that collar and seperate the leg and spring. clean everything up and change the bushings, and then reassemble in reverse order. I used a light coat of mobil 1 synthetic grease in my bushings. its actually a pretty easy and straight forward job. the first time it took me 30 minutes, now I can do it in under 10.

Nope , he's pretty much covered the whole job...

The hardest part of the job is the collar that holds the springs to the forks... you need a 1/8 pin punch to get the bugger off the fork legs to get at the bushing.
