top speed with high end china motors?

looking at building a ct70 motard for some street use, what china motor/carb setup and gearing will get me in that 65+ mph range?

and or what japanese motors will get me in that range......

I could run mid 70s on my old Pitster motard (the one with the dual exhausts) with yx 150-yes it had motor mods but no V2 and no BBK. 17/33 gearing.

Running against the 250 record, it does Scaled back to 215cc, for "reliability"...
The real feat is the 125 and 175 classes. 100 is a lock, even with my abundance aboard.

hmmm really?

kurlon, by 146, do you mean a 125 with a bbk? last time i checked on those alot of people were breaking cases when kicking them over...that was long ago though.

ok then so what motor setup would you guys do for a ct motard, would like to keep it as simple as possible so what mods including carbs without going race heads or bbks could make that little bike scream at 70+

also with that high of gearing would the front wheel still come up with no clutch in 1st gear?

A 124 honda i doubt it maybe 48mph, my lifan did 51 and almost all lifans come under carbed. 150 or 155 with good cr is right about the same with a 160. a z155 maxed at 56 for chuck gearing was way to shirt though, fatcat almost swears by his 177 but, think thats cheating cause that kit came with a v2 head.

I dunno man I have a 114 motor xr50 3 speed in a ct90 frame with a 16 tooth in the front and a 39 rear clocked on gps flat ground "i went for a rip on the highway" at 61mph. Granted its spinning 17 inch rims and off the line its a dog. If I got a 54mm crank I'm sure I could break 70mph. My 114 isnt as fast as a gpx 140 but it will hold its own against it.

As for the original thread question. It all depends on gearing what its in etc.

Isn't there a top speed calculator / gearing program on some mini website. I remember playing around with it for like two hours one day it was so much fun haha.

fatcaaat is local and i am planning on asking him to take on a sidejob and building a motor for me if i go that route.

the more and more i read it seems that a gpx160 and 17/33 is what i want. i still wanna be able to bring up the front end in first though by just flicking the throttle. all this will be on the standard 10 inch wheels with bopper tires i am sure.

then your in the right direction. i can't say i whole lot on the kit vs china war cause of what i now know, if i had known what i know know then i'd have got a bigger carb and an akunar piston off the get go, that lifan would have been screaming. now that i have gotten another engine i won't be able to ever get an akunar for the lifan but, i do have the bigger carb, and maybe a firepower flywheel mod.

Re: top speed with high end china motors?

My CT70 w/YX150 (honda Head like Terry was selling a bit ago) does a verified 65mph with a OKO 26mm carb, big pipe, and a Firepower flywheel fix. Running a 16/31 sprocket setup as well. It's all I need for ripping around town. No more motor mods till I get better brakes up front!

Re: top speed with high end china motors?

A stock GPX150 with a stock front sprocket, and 30T rear will do 60mph in an 1/8th of a mile at ten seconds. So thats 0-60 in ten seconds, doesn't sound fast but with 8" tires it is. About a 67mph top speed.

I never had any issues with breaking cases on Jialing 125s or Lifan 120s. Broke a bunch of cranks on 120s, never cases or gearboxes. I also am careful about how I kickstart.

A stock lifan 150 with correctly set valves and a correctly set mikuni vm26 and a good flowing exhaust will get you in that region.

(My monkey does so with 12" wheels.)
