Trash or treasure?

Howdy all...

As I was leaving town today on my weekly run to the fastener store... I see these laying next to someone's garbage cans...

I ask you... Who would do such a thing?

Oh yeah... the wheels pictured are 10", with Bridgestone Trail Wing tires... Is there anyway to confim if these are truely CT70 wheels?

1972. How is the inside of the tank? Now you have yourself a winter project?

A bit on the rough side, ain't she?... I'll be breaking her down tonight for a bit of R&R in the storage bin... then comes the fun part...

One side of the gas cap valve has been broken off. The cap came off with the help from the old channel locks... The inside of the tank is not all that bad. A bit of slight rusting that can be dealt with. Definitely not as bad as I've seen that's for sure...

I have another 72 in the same color... How cool would it be to have a matching set of restored "bookends"?

that seat looks to be in good condition, just put some soaker upper stuff on it to make it shiny black again, cause an unripped seat like that is hard to come by near a trash can like that

the frame may be salvagable and sold or used for something else, but that front end looks beat to me

it should be a sin to throw something like that away.

...Curbside K-Mart...

Actually, the fork lowers appear to be pretty straight, at least on the left side. The boots is detached and down on the lower leg, but overall, it doesn't look too shabby...

Nice catch, ya' Moose-breathed dumpster diver....

I've been looking for a frame to start a new build.

I'm thinking a twin for this little bugger....

This one is a runner. She just needs a bit less TLC than my latest find... So now most of my parts orders will be saying.... "two please"...

Tha seat pan is in great shape. The cover is VERY dry and brittle... Even after reconditioning, it's probable not salvagable in my opinion... Is that even the correct seat for that year? The shape looks nothing like the one on the other 72...

The front end is actually quite straight... Just a bit dry and sloppy. The frame looks good as well. They were even kind enough to leave a few fasteners in the frame... They're mostly rusty, but I at least have something to match the news ones up with...

Dan,

I'd seriously part it out and not look back. The last bike I got for next to nothing cost me 2 large by the time it was all said and the bike is almost done..

Maybe I'm too greedy, but how 'bought stopping back by to see if they have the rest of the bike or any other parts?? I paid $150 for two bikes that don't look much better than that one. Great find!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know. I looks like there isn't enough there to make it worth while.

From what I can tell from the pics, the seat appears to be from a CT90.

That style was used on the K1 thru K3 bikes.

Would have been a cool project...

Well, after some thought, I've decided to part out all the stuff I found. I have one runner that's a lot closer to "mint" than this and to do two at the same time would be cost prohibitive... I wish I could.... Oh well...

I'll pass on my good fortune to all... If ya see anything you want in any of the above pics, shoot me an offer...
