Re: Turbo Monkey!

I dont want to sound as if im bashing this guy. he built an awesome bike, no doubt. The dyno chart shows 9.8hp max at about 10500rpms. He made 7hp at 5000 and then it drops off and doesnt pick back up until about 8000rpm then slowly climbs to 9.8 at the 10500 mark. My point is this... is the turbo really doing anything? Im sure the engine is built with high performance anyways. Im not good on identifing enegines but that engine I dont recognize. I bet the max hp would be about the same, maybe 1hp less with out the turbo. Most turbos on these small engines dont produce enough boost to negate the complex setup.

Although if he is drag racing it it migt help ......some!

Theres and idea. A national mini bike drag racing series!

Re: Turbo Monkey!

One graph showed 14hp with the 95cc engine. That's pretty good but a built N/A 125cc engine could equal that HP with a lot less headaches and better reliability ...I would think.

Re: Turbo Monkey!

Oumera san is one of the best builders in all of Japan, and you guys are crabbing at the HP numbers?

Geesh, talk about hard to please...

He's one of less then 5 people in the world who has pulled off using a TD02 in a Monkeybike and it works correctly. Since he switched to fuel injection, it runs like a top.

The guy has been in every major Japanese magazine for the last 20 years with various projects and has done more to these engines in a year then most of you will be capable in your lifetime.

The bike was built because he can, not to outperform every single chinky and Japanese engine to be the world horsepower king..

Re: Turbo Monkey!

The dyno charts are a little odd just for the fact the torque numbers are messed up but don't let that take away from the build. Just like Dan said. It's about other factors. Why do we ride little bikes then make them bigger? Because we can. Projects like that define what a mini bike is all about. People have lost touch with that and gotten sucked into other things that pit bikes aren't about.

FYI - It's Japanese. Use a translation program.

His Aisin AMR300 Supercharged Bike

Here's the link where he added fuel injection on the bike.

Notice the dates. He did this work 2-3 years ago.

Happy translating..

Re: Turbo Monkey!

His creations are stellar! I could only hope to have 1/10 of his skill. The turbo doesnt do it for me. Im sorry. But the fuel injection really peaked my attention. Especially if you can control the fuel maps. No more altitude effects. And programable ignition would be sweet as well. Seems most of best builders are from Japan. I wished the monkey scene would catch on more here in the US. Im sure fuel injection will be the call for the day soon. I heard the epa is requiring all engines on anytype of motorcycle to be fuel injected by some date. Im sure of the year but i do remember it wasnt too far off.
