upgrading light switch on pitbull/lifan/jincheng etc.

I think I finally figured out my lighting issue on my pitbull that I got with 4 miles, currently with 74.

While switching the right light switch that turns the lights on and daylight/driving light the lights went off till jiggling it and moving it around.
It was loose and while looking at it some pieces fell out-going to attempt to put it back together but wondering-
will a keyed light switch off either a 70 or 50 fit in the key hole/work with the wiring harness on these?
is there a better handlebar switch?

I can just order a new one for $39...
but not sure how great the quality of that will be since there was issues with mine. the bikes a 2004. anyone else with these bikes have issues with switches?

thanks
Scott

or you can just eliminate that whole right side switch by goining into the headlight bucket and crimp all three wire together so that they're on all the time.

will try that for now. just hook up the light wires to the power right?
headlight and taillight.

thanks
Scott

btw, will a 12volt bulb cause problems in a 6volt system?
the taillight was 12volt-switched it out with the light out of my trail 70 and it works fine.

not much of an electrician

i'd match up the light bulbs to the correct voltage.

there should be three wires that go from the right clam shell into the headlight. take those wires and connect them together. not sure on the colors but it'll keep your headlights on when the bike is started up.

You can run 12 volt bulbs in a 6 volt system without any issues. They will not be as bright as the 6 volts are.

You cannot run the 6 volt bulbs in a 12 volt system for obvious reasons.

I would assume that a 12 volt bulb would generally last longer in a 6 volt system as it would be running at half voltage, but that is just a guess.
