| Vintage Enough
Anyone know how long Supertrapp exhausts have been around. Seems like I only need a tank and a set of bars and I have everything I need to put together the mini racer.....well, and a muffler. I'll be fabbing the exhaust from scratch from 1.25"OD Mandrel bends and need a muffler. What do you think...vintage enough? SuperTrapp: Performance Exhaust |

I just read the company history. It says they used a exdusor to reduce sound. I remember that but I still think the company was called Discojet and promoted the so-called exdusor muffler and later a spark arrester. They did not have the deep baritone sound of todays mufflers. And at that time there was nothing like the sound of a whole pack of XR 75`s coming into and leaving a turn. They would thunder! Last edited by minichopperfan; 02-20-2008 at 03:18 PM. | |

Why aren't you just running a reverse cone megaphone? It's vintage racing right? I ran for years unmuffled with a simple meg and had no complaints. Seems the sound of the four stroke amoungst the two strokes was pleasant to most folks. Unless your up against regulations, the R.C.Meg. will dampen the rasp associated with a staight pipe and if tuned right help out a little also. Just my two cents. |

DrATV sells them. I think it would look great and it seems to fit the theme. But performance-wise, no guarantees.

The site says 1971. They sound like crap, but send the noise off in enough directions to pass a sound test if your events are invaded by one. I've run them on ice bikes, since the MI DNR will ticket you for noise and not having a spark molester on a frozen pond. You used "racer" and "muffler" without "ain't gettin no FN" in between. Consider yourself scolded...

I like the sound of my Supertrap'd motard, but to each his own I guess... eventually I'll be moving to a reverse meg on my A bike to replace the CHP Ultima, but that'll come AFTER I have a motor to justify it.

I used to run a supertrap setup on a 75cc ct70 that I used for trail riding...and it was faster than my CB125. I never understood how that was possible, but that bike ripped with a 20mm carb, portwork, and a supertrap. I think this would be right on for a wide open race bike. |

Your link just came up with a catalog page with no details when I clicked it... I've ran supertrapps on Honda atc 110s and 125m's and liked 'em...kinda loud, but tunable and friendly to creative mounting adaptations. I also used an 'xdusor' before...kinda poor results with it, though. |
