I took my son out to the woods for a bit of vintage riding yesterday ![]() I discovered the swing arm bolt on his was not quite snug enough (build oversight) and after getting that fixed, the bike seems to run perfectly. The little E-bay special $150 electric start motor seems to have better power and a tighter transmission than my Panda stocker. My boy figured out that he can kick start it on the side stand, then get off, put the stand up, get back on the bike, get it into gear and go all by himself now. So much for being height challenged! It is only a problem if he kills it riding - but then he has the electric start! I am not sure who is having more fun! Oh yea - for those who have an interest, that yellow thing on the right is a resto-modded 1970 AT1 Yamaha 125 with a ported 175 top end, also electric start! |

Excellent! Glad to see your on the trail! I really like your Yamaha as well. I always wanted one when I was a kid that and a RD350. If I had gotten back it out of my system back then in the 70's, I doubt I'd have half the interest that I do now. Who knows. Thanks for the update!

Great photo! I hope to be doing the same thing (well, without the sweet Yamaha enduro) before the month is out; I'm scurrying around trying to fit in time to finish my son's rat-tastic mongrelized nonexistent budget Z50R before his 8th birthday next week. If I can pull that off I hope to get him up to Finger Lakes State Park, in central Missouri, before the weather gets too cold/wet, and do some trailin'. It's a reclaimed coal strip mine area with lots of interesting grades and trails. I want to get that boy to stand up on the pegs and point it up some hills.
