what carb setup? (fitment issues)

for any of you guys running a large chinese motor i have a porblem i hope you can help with

I'm running a lifan 124 in a 72 Z50, but even with the 12 position adapter from DRATV there's no way that i can point the 24-25mm carb i got without it hitting the tank some where or another. I'm running THIS carb

and the bottom hits the cylinder fins if it's mounted normally and all other ways it hits the tank or forks *bangs head*

what carbs are you guys running to clear these issues???? I need something in the 22 - 24 mm range in size. I was thinking i could probably find a shorter carb some where but i'd like to get an idea of what you guys are running and how you're mounting it before i order anything.. i'm trying to make the coolest Z i can without wasting any money or having to spend a fortune

thanks

I'm about to deal with this same problem. Why don't you just shave the front tank mounts and weld some on a little higher. You could just weld bolts on both sides that the rubber grommets (for the tank) would fit on.

My 137 nice has some pretty big fins as well. My current carb setup is a PWK28 and a Kitaco intake. I have no clearance issues with this setup.

got a pic for me brad? also, PM me if you have any left over stuff you want to get rid of that fits a Z.. i want to make this thing similar to a setup like yours and the rest of the nice a$$ Z's i see running around (except for the long swinger and real expensive parts that i can't afford ) So I'm trying to get stuff together and get the whole bike mocked up before i rip it back apart to paint it
