is this what I need?

My '72 Z slips when in third gear (like a false neutral)
Is this a common part to go bad???

Re: is this what I need?

No, if the primary drive gear shown was bad, it would be felt in all the gears. It sounds more like the gear dogs for 3rd are worn or rounded off, causing it to jump in and out of gear.
