If I remember correctly, you have a z50a soft tail. If so, I just fought that battle. I bought 3 intakes and the one that worked best for me was this one:

Mike at TB has the same style intake as well. (I'm sure other vendors carry it as well) It kicks the carb out to the left, but the carb cap and throttle cable ends up in the space between the tank and frame. It worked with a 19mm Keihin clone carb that I have as well as the TB 20 mm Sheng Wey carb.

You MIGHT need a petcock that exits to the side rather than the stock style that points straight down. Don't order one, though, as I have a brand new one that I'll donate to your project as I can't use it. Let me know if you need it after you get your intake.

Thanks alot yes it is a softail and i'm running keihin copy carb also so i will give that a try as the one that came with the carb will not let the carb clear the frame tube.

I made my own. I shaped the plates to match and welded a nice piece of bent pipe between them. Cleaned it up with a dremel and had it chromed. Fits perfect and looks trick.

here 'tis.
doesn't look like a big diameter, but thats because it's thinner tube than the bought ones. I have a kitaco one, but i prefer the fit and look of this one.
