Re: What Other Carburetors WILL ACCEPT A STOCK Z50 K1 THROTTLE CABLE

Maybe you need to learn some patience.

Any carb on the market will work with your stock throttle cable if you modify it.

All you have to do is carefully cut the other sheathing with a dremel to create the desired slack you'll need to run with your aftermarket carb.

You carefully pull off the metal end cap, cut the other cable around the OD making sure you don't cut the inner cable, then cut it lengthways to remove the section you are cutting off. You then slide the metal end cap back into the shortened outer and you are done.

In all honesty, don't sweat the small stuff. If you are going to deviate from stock or a direct-stock replacement, learn how to make things fit...

If you want a stock replacement carb, look to dratv.com or tbparts.com or call Minigunz.com has he restores the stock carbs.

Thanks Z for the prompt reply...

This is the carb I am going to use on it. eBay Motors: MIKUNI 26MM CARB + MANIFOLD HONDA XR50 CRF50 CARB XR 50 (item 260156207122 end time Sep-08-07 14:54:52 PDT)

Let me know...

Thanks,
David

That's a fake Mikuni to start and isn't genuine. Real Mikunis aren't that cheap. TBparts.com has the best prices on the rear VM26's.

What bike are you going to run this on? If it's a hardtail, you'd better get one of those 12 way adapters and stick the carb out to the side as it won't have a snowballs chance in hell to fit under the tank without lots of fabrication work.

You can make your stock throttle cable work, but you will be modifying it to give it more slack. The shorter you cut the outer, the longer or more slack it will give your inner cable.

What engine are you going to run in the bike?

What 125cc engine are you planning on using that carb on? Anything smaller is going to be grossly overcarbed...

To be honest it is going on a fully restored Z50 Hardtail 50cc, I want it to be a rider and if I Want that then no way in hell am I going to use the stock carb, because they SUCK... I will have to get an angled manifold.

You will never get that carb to work properly on a bone-stock 50cc engine.

There's nothing wrong with a stock carb and on a stock motor they are going to run like a swiss watch. All you have to do is replace and set the floats including the gaskets and clean everything else out.

I would recommend fixing the stock carb or purchase a new one that is for a stock engine.

What's the point of fully restoring a bike putting on an fake Mikuni eyesore sticking out the side that doesn't have a snowballs chance in heck of making that motor run properly...

No worries... They refunded me for that carburetor. Bad choice... I know.

I will rebuild my original carb. or do you know of a correct replacement carb?

Thanks,
David

David -

Between Dratv, tbparts.com, hondanuts.com or classic honda, one will have the replacement carb.

Or, you can send your carb to minigunz.com and he will rebuild it for you back to exact stock specs and your bike will run like a champ.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could show me the link to a replacement carburetor that would bolt right up to my motor.

Thanks,
David

David,

You'll have to read the descriptions and work that out on your own...

This will work with minor modification to the manifold.

*CARB Z50'S K3 THRU 1981 CAN WORK ON (K0 TO K2) 32MM_BOLT_PATTERN(73S)

If you still have your stock carb, call Jeff @ minigunz or Enzo at motoenzo to have yours restored. If you are going for maximum collector value, have your stock carb restored..

This is all I have to add on this subject.

Re: What Other Carburetors WILL ACCEPT A STOCK Z50 K1 THROTTLE CABLE

Well, I decided to just rebuild my original carburetor... Which I am completely capable in doing.

I do need one thing for this carburetor. I Need the COMPLETE Slide assembly. It seems nearly impossible to find.

Thanks,
David
