| Who wants to play a game?
After a couple months of my project sitting in the corner, I decided I need to make a breakthrough and get this thing rolling. I have a '76 Z frame and a CRF stem/upper. I have this pile of parts that honda says fit into the steering stem assembly. Who wants to tell me what goes where? I have no prior knowledge of the 50 steering stem setups so this is a first. |

From what I can see in your pick, you have a lower race and bearing which goes on the steering stem. Then put the stem through the frame neck and then you have an upper bearing and race to put on. Then on goes the stem nut (the one with 4 notches in it and a plastic bearing cover attached to it). Then the upper triple clamp and then the silver washer and the regular looking nut. Looks like you also have the bolts to hold the upper triple clamp on but I cant see everything. Hope that helps a bit.

I seem to have figured most of it out, however one portion still perplexes me. I think I am missing a piece, because this does not appear to be working very well... is a spacer needed below this bearing race?

Yeah... it's tight alright. I was debating the tap-in but I wanted to double check first.

tap it in! figure all the weight is supported there so it needs a solid backing

Ok I have it all figured out, but now I have to get the race off the stem so I can add the spacer. Damn.

| Re: Who wants to play a game? Good luck with that. Normally you would use a hammer and screwdriver to tap around from underneath the race (I'm guessing this is the main function of the spacer..to provide a clearance/access gap) until it pops loose and slides on up.
