| Why don't xr/crf clamps fit z50
What is so different that makes a xr/crf clamp not fit a z50? Also has anyone done the xr50 guts in z50 forks?

I think you can put an xr50 front end on an XR... bolts right up.

the distance between the to front bolt are widder on the z50. the forks are wider becuase the have fat tires on them and the xr 50 forks are skinner becuase the have skinny tires on them

Tire width is the problem.I think the Z's look cool with the little plastic fork gaurds and the fat tire. Yes the whole front end off of a crf will fit,you just have to use the wheel also.. |

Yeah. I think that CRF springs have an inch more travel than Z springs. Which just leaves more fork leg exposed which makes them easier to bend. I only have the CRF legs and guards. |

$1100 I'm guessing. That's not including the purchase price because it was a Christmas gift back in 2004. I've put a lot into it and I'm re-doing a lot now. Well, buying parts so I can redo it when I'm allowed.

Trails. A cool MTB rider I met on some commonly used trails helped me out and show me some trails that didn't connect to anything so almost no one rides them. The only way to get to it is by riding through un-molested woods. I try to go a different way all the time so I don't make a big trail. And my bike is street legal in my county without any registration at all, just buy and ride. So I can ride to the woods also. Just look out and pull off the road.

Seals? Honda 50s don't have seals. They have little rubber boots that try to keep the dirt out. I end up wiping off the forks after every ride. But now I got some nice oil filled forks. Just need to get a front wheel, disk, and caliper because I don't want to pay for TIG welding so I can use drums. Disks look cooler.

Depends how you think about it. I'm not allowed to run anything more than 50cc.

you can transplant all the internals if that hasnt been said. the only main difference is the tabs on the lowers for the fork guards with an xr, and that the brake is on the other side

qwoke can ride all over with a 50cc because of his state laws, maybe your state is the same i wont go over how to install the fork springs and bushings, because its a very simple process, and if you figure it out yourself, you will never forget how to do it, im not trying to be an a$$hole or anything, maybe somebody else will go over it, but its your loss, learning yourself is fun and much more rewarding! | |
