Re: will a 4.00 x 8" fit on my hardtail?

From what I have read no problem - but then again I'm a newb too!

It should be 1/2 inch wider overall...

Best price I've found for tires is Motorcycle-Superstore.com. (Oregon) They may not have what you are after. Look under scooter tires - a very limited selection of 8 inchers - but that's fairly common.

Are you going for street or knobby tread?

Those tires look great on your scoot!

I went for the Michelin S83's for more of an "old school look" for my BMW custom in progress - plus - I'm kind of a Michelin snob.

The hardtail up on the bench is running 4X8" tires front and back.

the seat is was purchased from honda trail bikes.

it took some modification to make it fit though, as the seat is for a z50r which has different mounting points for the seat than a z50a. i had to cut off the original mounting brackets off the seat then custom cut and weld new brackets that would line up with the mounting holes on the subframe.

its actually one of the mods that i'm most proud of, because i think that seat/tank combo looks amazing, and i actually got it placed just right the first time out. i have always hated the look and ride of the z50a stock seat. way too big for the tank.

exactly what i think, i think i may have to go that route on my build, plus with my foam being waterlogged i swear that seat weighs 10 pounds!

It's going to be the ultimate insult/compliment to both marques: a 69 hardtail - if BMW made it! BMW actually did make one scooter - and I mean ONE.

Black tank with white dual pinstriping and BMW OEM badges - that fit perfectly - low front fender, both fenders painted black with white dual pinstriping, custom front mounted sprung "saddle" type seat. I'll probably figure out a few other touches along the way like the muffler guard with lettering that says R11. Stuffing a Lifan 110 in there.

Since BMW made some 350cc singles named the R35 it goes to reason!

It's going to be street legal. Right now I'm converting everything to 12 volt - I've made custom brackets and mounted the SLA battery, rectifier, CDI, turn signal flasher, coil and starter solenoid. Once I get through the electrical the fun begins!

I've got an 01 K1200 LT in my garage... all 800 lbs of it!

Film at 11:00.

colineunson, lmk if you want any info on the seat fab. it was a pain but definitely worth it for the look and ride

thanks buzz! i'm actually planning a trip to the uk this spring, but i don't think the bike will fit in my suitcase, lol

ron, can't wait to see what you come up with, sounds like it will be pretty cool. here's a pic of my baby. just 3k miles on complete mechanical resto, just gotta get her painted and rechromed someday. i actually like the weathered look of it though. sorry for the threadjack, i just can't resist the urge to whore my bike out!

i cant beleive you are thinking of a sprung seat, i totally thought of and discarded the idea, but now you give me hope, i will most likely start a thread on my build, jockey shift, real bobber, 90km street hardtail, fully legal. will definatly be the most unique bike to date for me. thanks for the inspiration.
