WIREING HELP WITH CA 102 engine

Alright for the past 3 hours ive been messing around with this thing and still cant figure it out. I think/know it is something to do with the ground. I have 4 wires that come out of the motor. Yellow White black and green. I think the yellow and white are for lights (if im mistaking please help.

To the problem. Its simple enough that black and green goes to the coil. My coil though (6 volt one) off another 1963 CA 100 (edit) has a black and blue wire. Ive tried every combination to get spark and finally got some. Which is the blue to the green out of the motor and black to black. Now here is the problem. I can get it to spark/jolt me all day long as long as im holding the plug cap and holding onto the handle bars. As soon as i let go of the bars no jolt. The odd part is when i put a plug on it i dont feel anything even trying to send it through the plug and my hand. I cant figure out if it isnt creating enough juice to spark the plug or i have a simple ground issue. If anyone can just chime in and let me know What exactly goes to what that be a great help.

(more info)
Black wire to black. Green wire to blue. Tried grounding the coil and got the same problem.

Also can you run a 12 volt coil with a 6 volt system. On my C70 im running a 6 volt coil with a CDI set up and it works mint so wondering if that would work.

This is also a hard wireing system meaning im not going to run lights. So im looking for the easiest way possible to wire this.

Thanks for any help.

I just found this. Im having a hard time figureing out what to do about not having a combination switch. Anyone know what i can do about that to eliminate that?

Re: WIREING HELP WITH CA 102 engine

I do not know if a CA102 differs much from a C102, but here is the electrical scheme of a C102
http://www.mini4team.be/technische_info/tech%206.jpg

In this scheme i only see a gree/red neutral wire.

Try black of the ignition to blue of the coil and the black wire of the coil to ground.

Re: WIREING HELP WITH CA 102 engine

man no one can help me with this. There any chance im having a ground issue because of useing a 2 wire coil instead of a single black wire coil?

Re: WIREING HELP WITH CA 102 engine

Looking at that diagram, the yellow and green wires are for lighting and battery charging. The white wire is the source coil and the black wire is the contact breaker wire. Run the black wire from the motor to the coil black and the white wire from the motor to the coil blue. The coil should ground where it bolts to the frame. Run a kill wire to the black.

Re: WIREING HELP WITH CA 102 engine

Well now im more stumped, i pulled the casing around the cluster of 4 wires which was way behind the rubber boot that seals to the cases. what i thought was a white wire was a rediculously faded light green wire with a red line on it = neutral safety The red must of rubbed off. So that leaves me with 3 wires. Green, black and yellow.

If im not mistaking i need the black wire and ground that and that is all i would need to use for spark.

Another thing im going to do is get a different coil because that might be the main issue. Also does anyone one know if you can check everything on the stator plate is still good with a OHM meter? And what would i put for settings and want for readings.

Re: WIREING HELP WITH CA 102 engine

If you only have three wires (besides the neutral wire) then just run the black to the coil and ground the blue wire from the coil. The green and yellow are both AC output wires...Also make sure you have a good ground between the motor and frame.

Re: WIREING HELP WITH CA 102 engine

Well i got a different coil and wow did that make a difference in the shock it gives me. This coil is simple enough to and is a single black wire and grounds out to where you put it to the frame. Im still where i started though where it dont get spark unless i have my hands on the handle bars. There is no kill switch hooked up so that cannot be the issue. It is completely hard wired. The surfaces that the grounds are on are spotless I even tried grounding the green wire to the back side of the coil and still nothing. Its almost like this motor cannot conduct to the plug haha.

I still just get shocked with my thumb on the cap and hand on the bars. If i put a spark plug on it nothing... (but the amount of shock i get is the same i get with my brothers Z if not more and his is CDI) when holding the plug.

The last thing i can think of is the green wire is cracked burn or frayed on the backside of the stator plate. ill be taking photos so people can see what im working with.
