Wires, wires and more wires... hardtail/BMW R11 project pix

Here's how I managed to mount a bunch of goodies for my 12V conversion - next I've got to hide all the wires but I've got a plan a little further down the road...

You'll notice the stock 6V battery holder brackets are history. I drilled out the spot welds then gently broke them off using a chisel.

Installed a 12V 5 Ah SLA battery that can be mounted in just about any position - in this application its 40 degrees off vertical. Also in there is a flasher for the turn signals, CDI, solenoid for the starter, and rectifier.

I custom made several mounting brackets for the battery and mounting "tangs" from aluminum angle for the goodies. They are riveted temporarily in place with wide flange aluminum rivets. When I do the final assembly after painting I'll use steel rivets instead to prevent galvanic reaction between dissimilar metals.

I sewed the battery hold down strap from 1" wide black nylon webbing and attached a slide/snap buckle with a keeper that can be cinched tight. The battery does rest lightly on the rear fender for extra support.

Alot of junk in a small space!

Looks good. The mounts and hard parts positioning anyway. Hopefully the wiring is tucked away or covered up later though. It's coming along and the finished product should look nice.
