would newer xr80 swingarm with on older Z?

Just came accross some xr80 swingarms for cheap on ebay, there mostly fromt 97 and up bikes...just wondering if they's work on a older z50 or would it be too long? I cut it to fit and stuff but just not sure if it'll be crazy long or anything.

You need the swingarm from an XR80 or 75 with dual shocks mounted near the axles. Any monoshock swingarm would take a lot more work assuming it's even possible.

don't think it would be too much work...i can weld and have a welder...10 mins and i could have some shock mounts welded to the swingarm and be good to go. I was woried about it being really wide or long.

If you look at the newer swing arms you will notice that they mount inside the frame. The older ones mount outside the frame. It would be a lot of work.I got this one one Egay for $4.99.It's from a 1983 XR80.

Here's one off of a 1993.Notice the difference.I think there is an older style swing arm on Egay right now too, which is the one you want.

Did you ever get the xr80 swingarm on your z? What year z? Does anyone have a picture of an old z with a xr swingarm? What shocks go with that.

Re: would newer xr80 swingarm with on older Z?

Go to thread "Some day".I have a swing arm off of an '83 XR80 on my Z.The newer swing arms are for mono shock configuration and won't work with out heavy modification. The older ones require very little for mods.

no i never went with the xr swinger yet.....when i do i'll go with the older style tho just because it's easier as Patman was saying. Just wish there was bike yard here cause ebay shipping makes it an expensive mod.

Why not try Cycle Pros Salvage? They are located in Bridgewater, Mass.

Keep an eye on Egay.I got mine for like $23.00 shipped. You can use an XR75 or XR80 swing arm.I think they are identical.Close enough any way.
