| would this work??
i am looking into purchasing a set of 33mm conventional china bike forks for my 1990 z50r, i was wondering if i machined down the hub and welded brake cable mounting tabs on would this be successfull?

timo38, I've done something similar. I used a set of Sik50 SE forks on my 1995 Z50. It did involve a significant amount of work to the front hub to center the wheel. I also had to remove some material from the lower fork leg for the brake arm to function properly. Here is a pic of the bike. so basically you had to machine down the wheel spacer and the brake plate, the forks your using look a little more narrower than the 33mm china forks they sell here and my only concern is the tires not goin to have much clearance between the fork lowers.

The brake panel was most of the work. If you don't mill enough on that side, the wheel will never be centered. The other side was a breeze. We took some material off the hub but that wasn't really necessary. Just work on the brake side to get the wheel centered and then cut a spacer for the other side.
