Hey guys. Im pretty sure this thing is a yamaha chappy. I might buy it from a kid i know. Only 60 bucks. and he says it needs a new throttle cable and the rear tire is flat. is it worth it. Anywhere to get parts for these?

Yammy dealer? BikeBandit.com? I have never heard of an aftermarket for that bike, but for $60 it would be fun to ride around on and bash a little.

Re: Yamaha Chappy HELP

Those Chappy's are hard to find. They only made the 4 speed Chappy 1 year in the US. 1976 I think? My friend has one and he loves it! Not very fast but you can find tuned pipes in Japan and I'm sure that would make it come to life. Jump on it bro! If you don't want it, I would love to buy or trade you CT parts for it.

Re: Yamaha Chappy HELP

did i hit the jackpot here? this is a 4 spd. at least thats what the kid says. so pretty rare? worth anything? idk if its the 50 or the 80 model though. Any one know anything about these? And it is a fuel injected 2 stroke. how does that work? regular pump gas and where does the oil go?

Related to my old JT1's and the PW50. There are some moped pipes that can be adapted, and big bore piston options. Ring-Ding Mo-Fo

Re: Yamaha Chappy HELP

Fuel injected? No, It's oil injected! It has a carb but you don't have to mix the oil and gas. It's an 80cc(72cc)and yes it's kinda rare. Very cool bike! The Chappy's are quicker then a Stock CT70. Parts are not hard to find. Let me know if you want to sell it!

Re: Yamaha Chappy HELP

haha. that pic is sick. Those are fun bikes, the 2 speed autos are really cool to, cuz they literally shift just like a automatic car.

Firepower, you have a JT1?

My first bike back when i was 12 was one. Had the a 71 JT1 Boy did i beat the snot out of it. Me and my twin bro jumped it so high we broke the frame cleanly off of the bottom. Bent it back and then broke it in half all over again haha.

alexficco Get your buddies to get some scoots to. Get a crew and ride around town. Bunch of my buddies including myself got passports and scooters, its so funny when you get pulled over by cops just wanting to see what exactly your riding for fun. Depending on where you live here in CT you dont even need a licence to ride them on the road, just have to have eye protection haha.

Love the little dingers! My JT1 is going back together with a YZ60 arm, YZ80 forks(may use CR60 ones), CRF70 12/14 wheels, Bassani up pipe, bored carb, YT60 jug KX60 piston, and so on...
