Are you running a 12v battery on your Z?

If you are, what brand is it? where and how did you mount it?

I want to run a battery on my 75z with crf50 motor (wrapped stator) and am looking for the smallest battery out there.

Post pics if you have any.

I'm running one in my 1976.

1976 Z50A '76_11

It's a $15 battery.

if you want thinner, go with this:

Power-Sonic PS-1208

Battery has lasted over 2 years, much better then the OEM Honda batteries and they are cheap!

I used a Honda monkey battery holder and had mounts welded on the frame.

10A fuse.

I have used an Electrolitic Capacitor in place of a 12 volt battery in my 12 volt monkey bike, it has a lifan 124cc engine and i use a chinese regulator rectifier, and the capacitor connects where the battery would normally connect neg to neg pos to pos, the results are good its much smaller and lighter than a battery, it smooths the charge out and my blinkers flash nicely with it, The only draw back is... There is no power when the engine is not running,
otherwise bright lights at idle and i have no complaints at all... Mtom

Re: Are you running a 12v battery on your Z?

I have a neutral lamp switch on my bike and when I turn the key on, the neutral lamp illuminates. I also can activate my brake lamp and horn with the key on and the bike off. I consider all three of these things important and thus the reason why I run a battery. It's my personal preference to have everything work as the factory intended when I build a bike. If your bike dies (for some unknown reason) at a light, I want the blinkers to continue to blink if needed and alert some fool using the horn if needed.

If you don't care about these things, a batteryless kit will be just fine. The Honda Monkey OEM battery is a hunk of crap and expensive. The cheaper $15 batteries work just as good at 20% of the cost. You merely need to switch the connectors to work with the aftermarket battery.

Re: Are you running a 12v battery on your Z?

Ok then i figured there was a reason for the battery. i'm gonna end up starting yet another thread on how to wire it up but, this time all 12v.

The battery will work fine, but that's a big friggen battery. I run that battery on my ZB and CT70, but that's what they came stock with.

Does the ZB and CT share the same battery dimensions? Any suggestions on a battery for a CT70 12v conversion?
