I used this kit on one of my restorations, never again. He said it was OEM Honda Candy color and will match. No! I complained that the candy was way too runny and he said no it wasn't. Take a piece to your paint shop and have them "computer match" for the real deal and match. House of kolor or other good quality paint, you'll never regret it.

its done by candy chips and variang the amout of coats. either way. its still trying to match a tristage from back in the day which is extremely hard. Last edited by 50mAfIa; 03-20-2009 at 07:50 PM. | |

I had my painter match the candy on my bike and he did it almost perfectly. He had it matched via computer and used a base and a clear, and it's dead on. It can be done if you know what to do and take the extra steps. I bought some OEM shocks and had him re-shoot those and they are perfect.

The problem with those kits, is the Candy is too runny and it runs down the frame or whatever your painting. My painter had to do it three different times and had to sand after each application. He was pissed!

50, you are dead wrong. I personally watched the Candy run down the frame myself. I purchased another of these kits from this guy before and this was totally different. Also, the painter who did my bike, is also the same guy who does professional painting for three trucks on the Nascar circuit and does my stuff because he's a personal friend, I think he knows what he's doing. But thanks for the tip, I'll pass it on. I'm not the painter, he is.

Hey 50, I wasn't bragging about my buddy, just he "does know what the hell" he's doing. Whatever, we'll agree to disagree.

You could buy one of those kits for $128, but then you have to pay your painter and then you're into it for around $500 -$600. Why not just have your painter come up with a cool custom or something close to stock, it will save you $$$ in the long run.
