| z50 clone
Sorry if this is in the wrong section... I am looking into maybe getting a z50 clone replica with a 125cc electricstart : http://www.x-rage.ca/Monkey125.html Is these good and what year are they based off of? I looked around a little and only seen jap monkeys with the triangle shaped seat.I also noticed that the rep comes with 6v electrical if it doesn`t come with an electric start(the 125cc does come with an electric start, whooot!) Also will all the soft tail monkey parts fit this clone? I looked at the boreXstroke they have listed ..52X50? Looked strange so I calculated it on a bore/stroke calculator and it came out to a 106.2cc..... Any opinions or suggestions would be very helpful! Last edited by swanni06; 12-15-2007 at 08:42 AM. |

brad, drizz and my monkey bike started off as "clones". most of the parts available should fit with little or no modications. it honestly depends on how far you want to go... and what you wallet can manage. also make sure that the bike you get comes with a title or at least an mso. you'll have to check in your state what the requirements are to get it on the street. you buying one up in canada or here in the states? |

I am going to buy one to ride here in Canada..I live here now but I still have a house in N.C.(born and raised there)Anyway,Yes it comes with a MSO but I am not sure if I can get it tagged. Later I might get an original monkey frame and switch it all over to it so I can tag it for sure(canadian frame), but as for now I can`t find one up here so a replica is my best bet. If the 125 that comes in it is junk(sure it is) I got a brand new 140 OGM sitting in my basement waiting to be put on a bike. Got any pics of your clones and what you have done to them and sites where you got your clones?Where they good replicas before you changed them? | |

i think we all bought ours used. tmas may chime in and share some info on registering bikes up in canada as he has some plated minis. i don't think he has replicas but should have some knowledge to share none the less. that ogm will likely hit the front fender so keep an eye out for that. you may also run into carb clearance issues. here is a link to my posts on my bike: http://www.planetminis.com/f14/look-...day-39948.html i get a lot of my stuff from friends who import parts from japan. |

and these were taken not long after i got it. Pretty much all i did at this point was paint the bike. I picked it up used, and the only reason i actually got it was because it was already plated. Worth every penny just for that reason.

Mine was plated too. Well worth the pain of shipping it from Arizona to California for a plate

Swanni, wouldn't it be easier to get a Zb as they were street legal in Canada to begin with.

I was just talking to a local Panda dealer, and he says that he has been getting away with registering them as mopeds. Mass law states: 49cc, automatic trans - which he checked with a lawyer and states because the bike doesn't have a clutch, that would be ok. Not sure if I agree (or the police). Here is the link to his shop: Claude's Cycles. MA Dealer MA RMV moped requirements: Massachusetts RMV - Moped Definition and Requirements Last edited by allmakesmx; 12-19-2007 at 05:10 PM. |
