| Z50 in DFW Metroplex, Need Help
I have a 1978 Z50 and the engine is making a clattering sound. It runs fine but the noise worries me. Attached is a video with sound. Can anybody tell what this might be? [ame=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=737108351965083663&hl=en]1978 Z50 with noisy engine[/ame]

I notice that's a '73 tank, and I'm not sure about the side cover. But yes, valve adjustment is in order for your bike.

| Re: Z50 in DFW Metroplex, Need Help 1973 model year
Thanks. it is a 1973 model. i don't know what i was thinking. it also makes other noises, especially when cold. then as it warms up it stops. i have attached another video. is the sound heard in the video related to the valves? I have never worked on these bikes but would like to learn. Is there anybdy in the DFW metroplex that works on them or can show me a little? The first clip it just sounds like ticky valves, but in the second clip it sounds like cam chain clatter. I'd pull the cam end cover off and check the cam journal for wear. The cam may have a lot of slop in the head.
