| z50 frames tougher than xr50 frames?
Have seen numerious pics and stories of choppered xr frames but not of z50 frames. I was compairing a stock (choppered) xr frame I've got with a z50 frame. The z frame seems like it's made of thicker steel. so back to the question... anybody choppered (broken) a z50? |

Yes,have 2 choppered Z frames,,however I think they are stronger than xr frames.I would imagine its like cars,,,, you could take all the steel in a 1970's model car and build 3 2008 cars.Everyone wants more performance and lighter weight, which means thinner steel, etc.Imo

I am sure the amount of guys hucking XRs off sizeable jumps far outnumbers the guys doing it to Zs. I am sure the frames are very comparable,

my Z has much nicer looking welds on the forward section than that one does! yeah i would say that many more xr's get choppered do to the low number of z's jumping that big i would say that the rear end of a z is prolly much stronger than an xr, do to that channel part and the member holding it up |

My guess is that people with Z's know they are classics and should be taken care of. And they don't jump them or thrash them (as hard). But there are always the people who have no idea what it is and just ride it because it runs. But yeah. I think the people on here with Z's appreciate them.

I had a 1980 ATC70, and I beat the shiz out of it too. Ran it with almost no oil, sank it in a river (twice) went mud riding every weekend, and it would still run like a champ. For some reason, you cant EVER seem to kill a little honda. On the up-side, if something breaks, I atleast know how to fix it. | |

| Re: z50 frames tougher than xr50 frames? CRF's are ugly. It's really just a Z covered in cheap plastic and spoked wheels. Who wants plastic when they can have shiny quality metal?
