okey guys I need help with this stuff, pls help.. okey I got the front end 1+ taken care of, Iam going to use 10" rims so I want to get a diff. swing arm off a honda only. I have seen some off you use xr80 or what can I use with the no mods.(is this possibal?) **2** I also got a xr70 motor that I want to install, this will work right? I also have the original motor its all a part. Iam going to get a TB108 kit when Iam ready, should I get the kit for the xr70 or the z50 motor? **3** can I also install lights on the z50 like the monkey bikes? thanks Eric

1. In order to use ten inch wheels, you will need XR/CRF50 fork outers. The Z50 fork outer are wider to accomodate the 3.50 inch rim. I don't know anything about bolt on Honda swingarms. An XR/CRF50 swingarm mounts to the frame but the shock mounts on the frame will have to be fabricated. I don't know if XR/CRF50 wheels will fit in the Z50 swingarm. 2. The XR70 motor will bolt to the frame fine and the sprockets will line up. The problem is you will have to find mounts for the XR70 wire harness. The wiring harnesses are not the same unless you have a 1988+ Z50R engine. The 6v points motors have different crankshafts, flywheels, and wiring. So The wiring is your only issue here. 3. Yes but with some custom wiring and a lighting coil. There are some kits out there somewhere probably but I don't know where because I've never looked into it. |

1. apparently an old xr80 swingarm works if you shave a mm or so off the inside of the swingarm or the frame, somebody will clarify/verify, not really possible without mods, but i dont know if id call grinding a tiny bit of steel, "a mod" 2. xr70 motor will work fine - as for a stroker kit, its up to you, i personally dont have an opinion about it 3. you can install all the lights you like, you just need a voltage regulator, and switches, lights etc, and a battery if you want a battery setup or just run them from the engine. if you have a battery bike doesent need to be running to turn your lights on, engine just needs to be running to charge the battery |

armokind: if your wheels are the wide style, they will fit, and ct70 are the wide sort so you wont have issues have a look in previous threads regarding an xr80 swingarm, i havent done it myself so i cant verify it, but yeah just shave off a couple of mm's and its good to go apparently as for which kit to go with, maybe reynolds_brad or one of the other honda gurus can clarify things for you, i think more work is involved with a stroker kit, but youll get more power |

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1983-...spagenameZWD1V Here's a pic of the top left side of my swingarm mount. You'll need to grind off about this much on both sides (notice the angled part)... ![]() As for the safety aspect, I don't see a problem. The xr80 swingarm is a beefier unit than the z50 one and you're just reducing it to the size of the z50 swingarm which holds up fine. /dayj1 Last edited by dayj1; 09-03-2006 at 08:12 PM. | |

1. As everyone has already stated, you will need to remove a mm or so from the inside of the XR80 swingarm to have it fit properly on the Z50 frame. I believe the '80-'84 swingarms are the ones everyone uses. 2. As also stated, the XR70 will bolt right up, but you will have to add a lighting coil if you intend to run lights. If you build up the stock Z50 engine with the points ignition, you can swap out a CT70 stator assembly, which already has a lighting coil, and you'd be good to go. I believe DRATV has a stroker crank, and an appropriate 88cc big bore kit that you can install, to put together a 108cc stroker engine. 3. The CT70 wheels should bolt up to the Z50 forks with the CRF/XR chromoly +1 fork legs, you may possibly have to trim down the brake drum panel to fit. I'm not 100% sure if you will need to drill the axle hole bigger on the +1s, to accomodate the CT front axle. As far as the rear CT wheel fitting, it should bolt right in, but you may have to weld a tab for the brake torque arm to bolt up to. |

there's nothing wrong with the fast50s extended swing arm for the z50. has the look of stock but stronger and i think +1. check it out on their site. in order to run the ct70 rims you'll need to use your z50 hubs if i'm not mistaken. do a search on ct70 rims.

The Z50 hubs will not bolt up to the CT70 outer split rims, they are two totally different designs.

thanks for all the help guys... now I need a rear shock that will work with the +1 in the front and the swing arm, so the bike will look level. whats the 280mm and 330mm I think. is that how long it is?
