| z50 swingarm questions
How does a z50 with a longer swing arm behave in the dirt. Does it make it more ridable. I've seen some different pictures of z50 with longer swing arms that look like they were welded... any info on stretching them (I can figure it out, but if people have already done it, it leaves less to figure out) I've also seen that people are putting better springs in the front... where can I get them??? Are ct70 fork extensions longer? If so could I use them on a z50? |

this has been covered several times but here it goes, you can use a longer swingarm from a cr 75 that are on ebay alot. all you have to do is shave down the mounting spot on the frame so it will fit. you can also cut and extend your stock swinger which has also been done on here just do a search. classic honda (chpminis) also sells aluminum extended swingarms as well as fast 50s. as far as the front end you can use xr/crf 50 +1 fork legs and stiffer spring kit with the heavy duty bushings from any of the major aftermarket 50 sellers. hope this answers your question

lots of reading through threads about what size shocks work with what lengths. I havent' seen anything yet about lengthing the existing arm, or how the bike will behave on the longer swingarm. I guess I'll just keep reading. |

It will be a vast improvement. Have used +2 Kitaco swingers, +4 and XR75 swingers. Your Z50 will be less wheelie prone if your running a big motor so it will charge harder out the corners. Must better handling due to longer wheelbase. And the plus of having put better rear shocks on it. Combo it with the HD springs, delron bushings and maybe +1 fork legs and it will rock. Here is one I did. This has the Kitaco +2 swinger.

My Mood: | Re: z50 swingarm questions I'm 6'2'' so I have it adjusted back and up as possible as I could get it. There are two mounting postions for the front bracket on it. I have it on the leading one. If you used the other the seat would be closer to the tank. Rear bracket slide adjustment.

The XR and XL 75 swingarms are known to fit. There are probably others out there that will fit. Someone here did an awesome lengthening job on a stock Z50 swingarm. I forget who it was. It looked like a lot of work compared to mounting up a 4" longer honda 75 swingarm though. here's an XL75 swinger on a Z50R Last edited by d0n; 06-10-2007 at 07:27 AM. |

Cool! I've got a small lathe and a welder. Now I've just got to do some reading on shock geomety, available shocks, etc to figure out how I want to set everthing up.

+4 swinger you can use 330-305mm shocks. +2 280mm shocks. i have a xr75 swinger and started with 330mm but didnt like the way it felt and the shocks seemed to raked out so i moved the shock mounts on the swinger forward an inch and ended up running 305mm works alot better.

I have the XR75 swingarm and use the 335mm reproduction CT70 shocks from TB. They are nice. They seem to "break in." They are real stiff at first but now they are fine. I don't know if it was just me or what. But I'm happy with them. Click here for my shocks This is my bike. ![]() |
