Z50 wheel and tire ??

I have everything apart now thank goodness. I don't want to have to do that for a while. I am getting ready to put the wheels back together with new tires and tubes. Never done this before so this question may be a little dumb. When you put the wheels back together with the tire and tube in place. Does pumping the tube up push out the tires to the edge of the rim so that they seal up?

I also need to know this. Do you put the rim halves back together and mount the tire like normal? or just lube it up and slide one half on and then the tube and the other side? I have never done it either and I will be soon.

Re: Z50 wheel and tire ??

I've found the best way to mount the new tires is thus:
Take the rim half without the valve stem hole, face down, first. Then, put the tube in the tire after inflating with JUST ENOUGH AIR to make it round. Spritz a little dish detergent on the bead, and lay the tire and tube down on top of the rim half, valve stem UP. Spritz a little more detergent on the other bead, and lay the other rim half in place. I then use 3 (or 4) bolts to finger tighten the rim halves together where the hub normally bolts on. Then install the 4 perimeter bolts to bolt the rim halves together. Install all 4 loosely, you'll need the room to jiggle to get them all inserted properly. Snug them down, and then add air to seat the beads. Remove the bolts in the hub holes, and install the hub.

search button works wonders eh? It wasn't easy but it wasn't hard change out that damn tube.

I also just got a new tire an older style with the circles in the rim...didn't know the hub was a solid 30cm's larger than the newer Z's.
