z50a to z50r will some parts fit?

I'd like to put a set of adjustable bars from a z50a on my z50r's. If I had the foldable bars I could haul these minis in my station wagon instead of hauling the trailer. Otherwise, I'd have to remove the z50r bars for transporting.

Can this swap be done? Do the z50a bars bolt onto the z50r triple tree or will I need the z50a triple tree and bars to mount on my z50r?

thanks for any advice.

ya, as long as you have the whole setup, you will need the top plate as well cause the holes are spaced differently

Can't you just loosen your bars in your clamps and fold them back to fit? Just tighted them back up so you can still handle the bike. That's how I haul my XR in my jeep. The old 50 bar setup would be a lot of hassle unless you found everything complete for a good price. Even then, you have that funky banana bike bar bend. Might be cool for cruising the street, but not a good off-road bend.

Stock bars on a Z50R do not fold. They do not have adjustable bar clamps. Bars bolt right to the upper tree.

I have a set of fold down bars if you want to try them out.You might have to redrill your top plate but no big deal.

Didn't realize he was still running stock bars. That's usually the first thing to go in the trash.

Actually, the 1979 Z50R had conventional bar mounts, which are still available from Honda. The OEM Part numbers are below:

Was not aware of that. And my son has a '79 with adjustable mounts. I thought they were aftermarket. Thanks for the info.

A lot of my friends use the clamps from TRX steering stems or ATC uppers. Dirtbkr188 knows his Z's.
