z50r shocks

I have a 98 z50r and I want to upgrade the rear shocks to some thing better than stock. I have kitaco 330mm shocks but they way to long for stock swingarm. Who makes decent rear shocks? I have looked at the ones on classic honda but not sure how they are. Would i-shocks work on the rear?

Are you willing to sell those 330mm shocks? I need a set of 330s for my bike.

The Kitaco's on CHP are fine. Use them all the time. Work well and last. Good for the price.

I personally never tried a pair. Have never bought anything from Mike that was not good quality! Your choice. I just know the Kitaco's work well.

It was on 50 riders where I got my most recent motor from.
http://www.50 riders.com/forum/showthread.html?t=24091 he took down the description of the motor and everything. But you can check out the pics of it though.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum and think the cheapo Kitaco and Takegawa shocks are stinkers. I've owned 'em and sold them off. I prefer the Daytona shocks made by Showa. They are slightly more expensive, but are a better quality shock.

I do like the KYB's and the high end kitaco shocks as well but the kitakegawa cheapies aren't any better then the trailbikes units. I've had those too.

The bottom line is buy want you want, can afford and run what you brung... Building a bike is a personal decision and only the purchaser can decide what's right for his or her bike and nobody here can tell you what is right and wrong. We just share opinions.

I love hearing peoples reviews. It gives you a better idea on what to get. Eventually in 4 yrs is will be a birthday gift for my nephew who will be born in May. Im gonna get him started early. But any information is better than no information on these bikes.

Dan is right. I agree the KYB'S, Daytona's and Ohlin's shocks are da bomb. I just always try to stay with the more modest priced stuff wnen offering an opinion. If you are doing a high end build, absolutely go with the higher dollar stuff. Better quality and more adj. like preload/rebound/damping.

I build a lot bikes for people with a small budget so I try to get the most bang for their buck. Like Dan said, different opinions thats all.

I'm no authority on the subject like z88R, but i have to agree, its sad to see the amount of people on here who ask for others to make their decisions and dont experiment on their own. Wheres the learning? The whole point of doing your own build/restomod (or anything for that matter) is to put your personality into the thing, not somebody elses.

I just had to share my 2 cents, i feel very strongly about people learning on their own. It's a different experience when you learn on your own.

You have got that right symp! When I build a custom or just experiment in the fitment of parts, or adapt a say Harley part to a custom, you should see the pile of extra parts! Its called R&D! You don't learn by being told but by doing.

Of course, this is a good idea, but for people who do not have enough money to put into R&Ding would rather just ask questions, and have the older, wiser, and with more disposable income handle all the R&Ding lol.

Finally someone I agree with. I wish I could try them all but with going to school and a limited budget its kinda hard to test everything.

yeah ive thrown away enough money to build a decent bike on r&d parts for projects. I'm in a position financially where i can do that, but when i was 15 i would have been spending all my time mowing to do it!
