Case bore needed for a TB165+TB stroker crank?

I'm thinking of upgrading from my current TB143 kit with TB stroker crank, to the new TB165 bore kit. Will I have to bore the cases for piston skirt clearance with the stroker crank or will it clear without problems?

3 people saying he'll need a case bore for tb 165 w/stroker crank..
1 newbie saying you won't... hmmmm............???????

the 165 tb kit alone is fine without case boring BUT add a stroked crank and the piston will pull down into the cylinder more that with stock crank so you WILL need case boring...

and if your going to go with something that needs case boring anyways go with a full skirt piston setup and stroke that.. i.e. bbr 160 w/stroker or firepower has some full skirt setups...

Re: Case bore needed for a TB165+TB stroker crank?

Not the question he asked... Piston will hit un-bored cases with the stroker crank, as it comes past the bottom of the spigot-less jug. Thanks for the .02, Pacheco. Hope you kept the receipt

But... If you have to bore the cases anyway, you can use the 64mm YX160 TB jug with spigot, and give the slipper a little more support at the bottom. Or swap a different, skirted piston in the TB skirted jug.

Re: Case bore needed for a TB165+TB stroker crank?

I was looking for something bolt on, for a quick boost in HP's to get me through until the end of the riding season. The 155 stroker V2 is starting to feel slow I'm going to save this project for the winter months.

When the cases come apart Terry will be the guy I call to do the work. I'm thinking a MotoHP 165Weisco piston, and a Takegawa close ratio 4 speed.

What about an irk/s35 cam. How many hours are on your 143 now?

The bore kit itself doesn't have all that many hours. It's by no means tired, just not enough grunt anymore. I guess I just got used to it?

I might try the S35 cam, but I don't like the 2 stroke power delevery you get with the IRK's.

I dont know that much about engines but if the piston hitting the cases is the problem with the stroked crank, couldnt you use an short cut piston? (s-cut)?

The kit he's talking about comes with a short piston, but would still hit the cases.
