KLX110 Got Spark But Doesn't Start

So continuing with my free klx110. I finally got the cases back on after installing a quick shaft and a new star thingy. Kicked it over to see if it has spark and it does. Threw the plug in the head and tried to start it but it won't. It got close a few times but no go. I pulled the plug a few times to see that it's wet. So I dry it off and kick it a couple times to air out the fuel that's in the chamber. Put the plug back in and it still won't start. Why is is flooding? Could the timing be off a couple degrees? How do I adjust it? Help me get this thing running please. If anyone knows klx110 could you please pm me your number. I'll pay you or give you beer to help me get it running.

You need 4 thins to run, spark, fuel, air, and compression. Do you know if it has compression? If you replaced the cases I'm assuming you had to time the motor already correct? It's pretty straightforward on these bikes. I just went through a bit of trouble timing mine it but found out the timing key had been sheared, thus making it impossible to time correctly.

If the plug was wet, it sounds like its getting fuel. You said it had spark, was it a good strong spark?

What have you replaced on this bike? What was it that you were fixing?

Put a new plug in it.

I did not replace the cases. The bike was crashed a while back and has sat for 2 years or so behind a garage. The star gear sheared a pin and it was stuck in 3rd gear and the rear axle hub broke as well. So I got a new wheel, the star gear, and the quick shaft. I was told it ran up until the crash leaving me to believe it wouldn't start since it was stuck in 3rd. I'm not ruling out that it needs to be re-timed but i think it's fine. I know it has compression but I don't know if it's 100%. I think it's close if it almost start those few times. The spark is a white-ish blue and hit every revolution. I know this cuz i got zapped a few times.

Re: KLX110 Got Spark But Doesn't Start

This sounds exactly like what just happened to my bike. It had spark and compression, but I couldn't get it to run because of the bad timing. Check your timing, if you have issues and it looks like it wont time correctly, pull the flywheel, see if the key is sheared. The easiest way to check without physically pulling the flywheel is to take the cylinder head off, take off the side cover, put the flywheel to "T" next to the mark in the case, and see if the piston is at top, if its not, your key is sheared.

How do I get the timing right? I did pull the head side cover and the left engine cover off and the magneto trip was at the bottom when the marking was a few degrees advanced. You'll have to excuse me if I'm getting the terms wrong.

I think I follow. Ok spin the crank by hand. If you look on the inner case just to the left of the flywheel, you'll see a little point, and it points towards the flywheel. You will line up the "T" on the flywheel with this point. This tells you the piston is at TDC. You can also remove the spark plug, and put a dowel or something in there and turn it over until it is at the farthest point out of the hole (tells you the piston is at the top). Now when you look in your inspection cover on the head, the cam gear should have a "T" on it as well and this should line up with the notch that is on the left side of the cam gear on the head. Does this make sense?
