| oil coolers
I was wondering if anybody know about the oil cooler kits that come out of the oil filter cover on the klx?? I Currently have a really expensive and nice oil cooler mounted on my bike but it doesnt seem to get that much flow through it with the stock mounted oil lines..... I have a friend with a yx motor and the exact same oil cooler and it DRAMATICALLY decrease his engine temperature. So I was wondering if changing the lines to the oil filter location with an adapter would help?? |

Expensive does not neccessarily equal nice. How do you know how much of a temp drop you get. Or he gets? Technically, it doesn't matter where you source the oil from in an effort to cool it. Hot oil is hot oil. I am going to guess you have a "billet" oil cooler? If so, that's likely your problem. It's a pretty terrible way to cool the oil. But people buy them because they automatically think "billet" = awesome. You want as few seperate pieces as possible on a cooler to minimize leakage possibilities, but you want as much surface area as possible. |
