Shipping my motor to Canada

Hey so I am selling my motor to someone in Nova scotia, canada and I am a bit worried because of the customs form. It says the goods may be subject to quarantine, sanitary/phytosanitray inspection, or other restrictions. I obviously drained the oil and gas from this motor but didn't completely flush it to their standards im sure. Should I worry about even fumes on the box or anything for it getting returned to sender. Because if it didn't pass and was returned, I would have to pay to ship it back to me, and it is $125 to ship it so I don't want to get screwed. Has anyone shipped a motor to another country and been okay with simply draining the fluids? Should I worry?

Drain everything overnight. So that it is good and dry.

You dont want to mess around with customs as they will win every time.

Just do what they ask and you wont have any problems.

Also make sure that the container you use will hold the weight and be strong enough to ship a motor in. Pack it well so that it cannot shift around. Making up a nice plywood stand to mount the motor to would be a good idea also.

I have shipped all the way to Scotland England and have never had an issue.

Make sure that you fill out all the 4 customs forms thoroughly.

I am pretty sure I have drained it all good but I think I am going to pull it out of the box and drain it even more, Im spooked about having to pay to ship it back to me. I shipped my other motor in a cooler and that worked great but unfortunately I don't have another cooler.

I had a couple transfer cases for my truck shipped up from the states no problems for the sender or me.

he just drained them of the oil, not spotless or anything by any stretch of the imagination. and he used those black and red locking rubber maid containers and packed them in there pretty good. probably 20 bucks for the container or so. just after closing it up tape the sh!t out of it so it doesnt come open and you should be ok.

hope that helps.

ya I may go get a bin like that or something, but that is a relief hearing that they weren't spotless by any means because I was thinking how hard it would be to get every little spec of oil out of there. Is there any fluids you can use to flush it? I am only worried because it is going to another country and has to go through customs, I shipped another motor and bottom end with no problems but never to another country.

Dont put any kind of flush in the motor. you will ruin all the bearing surfaces.

One idea... Pull it out, pop the clutch cover, and let it drain overnight. Button it up, double wrap in contractor bags and tape it up. Put the addresses on a label and tape it on the bags before putting it in the tote. Zip-Tie the lid on the tote, after making SURE the engine can't move around in there.

This:

Works better than this:

The only place the oil can get out is the breather.

Plug it.
