Election Delegation

I am the typical 21yr old american, I found the last thread very informative but was shut down, I like the facts and views from all so please discuss so i have a better opinion on who to vote for. And keep race and ignorant comments out so it can be left open.

P.s> I was voting mccain but reading the last topic has confused me on wich candidate to vote for.

How to inform yourself in 8 weeks or less

Matt,

Thanks for stepping up. If more Americans researched before tossing their support at a particular individual or party, we'd be much better off. A minibike forum isn't the ideal place to gather information on one of the more important decisions in your young life, but here are a couple thoughts:

Watch the "real" debates A couple middle-aged jerks fussing at each other from opposite swings of the pendulum isn't as important as what the real candidates have to say. Pay attention to the VP's as well. They may be called in to service. One Presidential hopeful would be the oldest ever elected, the other a potential target of armed ignorance and bigotry. Either may have to call on their #2.

Use Google and/or Snopes to confirm ANYTHING bad or even good that you hear about EITHER side. Especially BEFORE regurtitating something as "fact". Look up all the players. I personally find some of the background info on a few of them to be horrifying. Knowledge is power. Vote educated. Lies told about another are signs of a waek character, fear, and contempt for those you're lying to.

Re: Election Delegation

Thats what im starting to see, I believe now that the debates and open discussion's we see arent their actual views, only illusions to gain a vote or two. looking at the past and track record now is the only true way to see one's colors.

Re: Election Delegation

I locked the thread due to the racial undertone that was presented in the thread not because it's political content.

While I don't come to PM to share political views, people are welcome to discuss as long as it's kept within the forum guidelines.

Look for reliable sources. The truth is out there...

Zed, rather than lock the previous thread, how about just deleting the offending posts, and kicking the nuts of those posting them? I've seen you do it

Re: Election Delegation

Maybe it's just the red in me, but there is a very, very long list of things that keep me away from the Obama/Biden ticket.
For me, it's not all about characteristics or what stupid people on the Internet say. I would rather watch Interviews of the Candidates or find a reliable source to research both Candidates. What their plans are to get this Country back on track!
I think both McCain and Obama along with their running mates are well spoken, and organized individuals.
I can only stand listening to certain Political analysts. Because, the majority of the time it's just some dude rambling on and on. Somehow trying to link it with a Government figure. But, the select few that aren't there to blow things out of proportion or make someone look bad, actually can find valid reasons for the voter's decision.
With all the Internet drama, rumors, jokes, prejudice, and religious views, the American people are lost. Lost sight of what we are really needing as a Country right now. Who cares if someone Photoshops a picture of Sarah Palin, how about the news reports on their plan for alternate energy sources, taxes, and other issues!!

Not trying to be super opinionated but I strongly disagree with most of the proposals from Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
A couple days ago Joe Biden said "It is Un-American for the wealthy to not be taxed higher." Which is just ridiculous, I think it's Un-American to tax someone higher because they have greater income! Doctors, Lawyers, CEO's, etc... worked hard to get the level of success that they're at. Why should they be taxed higher than the High School drop-out flipping burgers. Who is contributing more to society??
Another thing that Biden said, "No one should be able buy a home with less than a down payment of 20%."
My Dad is a mortgage broker, and I have talked to other Lenders. The average down payment on a home around here is 3-5%
You think the Real-Estate market sucks now? Just wait till that goes into effect. Less than 8% of the American population will be able buy a home.

No, I won't be able to vote come November. I'm not 18, but I take a lot of interest in Politics. And our Country is in a scatter right now. We just need someone in office who will put this puzzle back together.
Not someone who says they will through their Campaign, but someone who takes it all the way to D.C.

That's just my .02 cents anyways.

Holy crap! Even tossing aside the content, your ability to effectively communicate concise thoughts gives me hope for the future of our country.

Wait, you weren't homeschooled, were you???

Re: Election Delegation

I think everyone should vote Ron Paul and let Washington know that we need at least a 3 party government or possibly more and get away from old school politics as usual. It's to bad that in some states there is no choice for anyone but the Dem/Rep., seeing as were supposed to be about the people I find it odd.

God Bless America & our Economy
