My '93 trx 90 misses while loaded. It revs out ok in first and second but misses horribly in 3rd and fourth. I have a 2003 that runs great. I (we) race these on a very small (50-70 foot straights) oval that leaves the motors revved near top end in third gear at the end of the straights. The 1993 trx 90 is missing bad and makes racing no fun. Ideas? This machine has been through the ice a couple of times, we drain the oil a cuople of times after each drowning, dry out as much as a propane heater in a barn can but the missing started long after the last water incident??

Spent a day working on the trx 90. I found two possible culprits. At some time the chain came off the countershaft sprocked and cracked the pull starter/ ignition side cover. The ignition pick-up, sensor next to the rotor flywheel and just forward of the broken housing, had small metal shavings arround it, possibly compromising the ability to sense the magnetic field change each revolution. Also a ground right near the cdi unit was loose ( a little wiggly ) with corrosion on the wire lugs and frame mating surface. Machine runs fine now after suitable warm-up. In the interim, we used a skid steer and a field disc to add banking to the corners and widen our little race track. 90's side by side on the banking sideways at 16 mph is really a hoot.
