My Mood: | Impounded truck!
Lastnight I was driving home and hit a check point. My truck was impounded due to a ticket I had never delt with. Anyone have advice on getting around the 30 day minimum impound? The officer ended up being cool but couldnt let me go. He said to go talk to the watch commander I think it was and if I can raise a big enough stink he might just give me my truck back to get rid of the situation. Is this true and if so what are some tips u guys have? I could use some advice and I know it would have been way easier to just go to court and talk to the judge but we are kinda past that now. I need my chevy back! No man is complete w/o his truck...

I just dont get wut entitles the tow company to profit sooooooo much? If anyone should get the $$$ it should b the sheriffs or the city not some private company... or just leave the $$$ in my pocket cuz I couldnt afford the ticket in the first place thats y my license was suspended. sound like a viscious cycle? it needs to b broken.

Hmmmm... Let's see if I have this straight... You got busted by the cops and got a ticket... Right? Then, when you didn't pay the ticket, the cops suspended your license... Right? And now, driving after suspension, they impounded your truck? Is this correct, or did I miss something?

Go plead your case to the watch commander, take your son with you. On second thought, don't take the boy. They may deem you an unfit parent for speeding with your son in the truck and take him away as well.... Better just talk to a lawyer. |

Okay, got it.... Well, I guess we all know what your SHOULD have done. So no need to get into that... In my opinion... And this is NOT legal advice... If you have another court date set up, is to basically go in and plead your case. Get a lawyer or PD if you haven't already. They may be able to find you some "wiggle" room... "IF" you can prove "hardship", there may be "sympathy" from the court... Another route would be to persue this BEFORE your court date. Make a ton of phone calls and find that one person who may be able to help... As I see it, the major issue here is that you screwed up. Not once, but twice... That in itself, will not go over well. Most courts don't look too kindly at folks that compound their own problems. They will see it as you had received a warning (the original ticket) and chose not to obey the law (for what ever reason) by not paying the fine. Kind of tough to predict or offer advice, not knowing ALL the details of your case or much of the Cali court system... However, if the Cali courts are going them same direction as what I've seen here in Mn recently, it's gonna cost you BIG TIME one way or another. So be ready... There may be some tough decisions to make coming up real soon.... Think "priorities"!!! Again, this is NOT legal advice... Just the ramblings from someone who has had "exposure" to a bit of our legal system a time or two... Good luck to you!!

it's CA, they will tell you the classic SOL line. I wouldn't advise taking your son either because of the child endangerment deal with speeding, they WILL look down on you for that and having him there in person will strengthen that point in the judge's eyes. like Moose said, start thinking "priorities" because that is what is going to matter now.. they aren't going to give it back shy of the 30 days. never seen it up here anyway..

I broke down one day on the right side of the free way. I left to go get some tools and when I got back to my car it was gone. I called the sheriffs department and they said they had it towed because I was within 7 miles of a bridge and that makes it a tow zone. No signs to represent that so I really lost it and started yelling at the sheriff calling him a piece of sh!t and a bunch of other things. I then called the tow company and they said it was $350 for the tow and the half day it was there and they also said they were closed so to come open gate is another $180. But to leave it there for the weekend tell Monday would end up coasting me more. So at that point I couldnt see stright and picked a fight with the tow truck guy and ended up in jail tell that Monday and had to spend over $550 to get my car. What a few days. Thought I would tell that story. If you got money they will give you your car thats all they wont. It all a racket

30 day minimum? WOW we don't have that in Ky. Thank god, my car was impounded a few months back for not having my proof of insurance, they took it sat night - sun morning (around 1 am) had it back monday. Thing that really sucked was I was a good hour away from home, and had to call my parents to come and get me lmao.

is the car in your name? If it isnt have the legal owner go to the deparment that towed it, so lancaster pd and tell them that you wont be driving it for awhile and its there daily driver and they need it to get to work and they may release it to them. |
