Angry memory stick

ok today i bought a 256mb memory stick from stapels for going to school and back so its easyier doin projects and stuff. i pluged it into my computer and it said unknown device and a box came up. i clicked out that box (i dont know why) and i tryed to acsess it in "my computer" and its not there. i restarted my comp and pluged it back in and now it doesnt do anything its like my comp ignores that i pluged it in.

anybody? i really dont like buying something for school that cost 25 bucks and have it not work. i think ill just smash the comp i have because it was 1400$ and this stupid thing wont work.

you need to have memory that is compatible with your motherboard. some PCs also need the memory sticks to be of the same type (DDR, etc...). Each motherboard memory slot also can only allow certain combinations... etc.

Make sure that you have the right kind installed and it matches the others.

iis it a memory stick? like as in ram or ddr ? or is it just a usb memory stick? if its a acutall ram or ddr that you put inside your computer then you do not see the memory any where it doesnt add memeory to your computer it just makes your computer faster

oh... if it is USB... must be talking about a small storage device. It will NOT make your computer faster. It is not RAM which is what you would need for a performance increase.

hmm... idk, memory sticks don't normally need to be installed, they shouldn't need drivers.

right click my comp, then properties, then the hardware tab, then device manager, then click the thing for search for new hardware.
