tragic event

After spending the weekend at the McGrath designed track, and watching racers from all ages, including MC race both days, my weekend was marred with a tragic event. The race is held at a ski resort, 8,000ft high, awsome event, but the road has a 14% grade per 1,000ft. On the way down I knew the motorhome would be slow going down and there were thousands of people at the event, so we were backed up for ever on a winding two lane road, mountains to the right and a drop off to a small creek on the left. We had just about went a mile when I noticed a motorhome in my rear view was in the left lane comming up at a pretty good clip? (i was only going about 3mph)when they went by me I felt the wind rock our setup pretty good it was a 40ft with a 24ft trailer, about two minutes later the sheriffs were flying down the hill. Shortly after we all came to a stop (I had been stopping every half mile to let the brakes cool down as the first time I stopped you could see a light red glow through the holes in the wheel covers comming from the rotors), As we bunched up down the road we saw all the helicopters comming and going, lights from emergency vehicles, then people rode up from the site and said that that motorhome was destroyed and one of them had perrished,My heart sank, and I was thinking about the rest of us , hundreds, that still needed to get down that mountain,,,,,I talked with a guy that was just in his pickup, he said when they went past him he saw part of the drive shaft fly out from under the rig, so he knew they had no brakes and no way to down shift, he said he attempted to catch them and was not sure what he could do? but thought of maybe getting infront and trying to stop them, but could not make it happend before it was too late. this happened about 9pm, it was not until 5-6am that we were able to get down and headed home,This has been on my mind continuously since and will be for a long time, my prayers go out to the families of all involved as well as those that were there . Here is the link to motocross actions site about this rider.

Re: tragic event

Has there been any sort of donations website set-up to help the family? If anyone knows them there are several avenues to do this, one in particular is riderdown.org
