Here are some pictures of these sub tanks the ER boys / OGM riders were testing before and at vegas. Alittle more testing will be done and then they will go into production.

The guys love them so far. I think they will fit pitsters, thumpstars, and some other brands also.

Re: Subtanks For Sgr Forks Coming Soon!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it keeps the oil cycling through so the oil does not heat up so fast, cause when the oil heats up the forks will fade and not perform as well. At least thats how it is in off road desert racing. Basically like a remote reservoir like you can see on my truck:

I thought I read somewhere that they help absorb smaller bumps/hits etc also if they are set up right?

Might do that as well, I'm no suspension specialist.

Re: Subtanks For Sgr Forks Coming Soon!

Totally different than a shock reservoir, nothing trick about the subtanks themselves it's the same as a large air gap or air volume in the fork tube. What can make these set ups trick is how you control the volume of air allowed to enter and exit the tank. Same as a shock nothing trick about oil moving thru holes it's how you control that oil that's trick.

On factory MXer's they've messed with these for decades. The factories used them to help tune their forks.

One thing different with these compared to a lot of the others is, they have clicker adjustments to control the feel of them. We have them on my sons KTM65 and he loves them. Makes the front feel real plush over small bumps but stiffer on the big jumps.

No actuall oil goes into the tanks but it does let you run more oil in your forks with out making them stiffer.

I wasn't aware of the other adjuster. So basically they give another form of external adjustment?

Re: Subtanks For Sgr Forks Coming Soon!

Sub tanks allow the forks to be "tricked" into thinking they are running a low oil height. This makes the forks feel softer throughout the stroke without sacrificing your bottom control. All they do is increase the air chamber volume, this way the air does not compress as much giving a more supple feel. A rear shock works differently in that the air (or nitrogen) and oil are completely seperated. The resivoir in a shock works by allowing the displaced oil to compress a piston or bladder that is held under pressure. Because the oil volume of a shock is much less than that of a fork it must be held under pressure to adapt to changing temps and the resulting changes the oil undergoes.
