TBparts V2 Decompression Head

Race Head V2 Decompression Valve Option – V2 Heads are machined and equipped with a decompression valve that eliminates high compression starting resulting in increased service life and reliability. The decompression valve releases compression in the big bore race engines upon startup so there is no need to start at TDC anymore. It was designed to eliminate common problems associated with high compression starting such as cracked and broken inner cases, broken kicker shafts etc. It's also easily accessible with an extended billet knurled end knob. To operate, just push the knob in prior to starting and kick it over nice and easy and that's it! The V2 Head will come with this option fully installed.

This is an option and can be ordered with any kit that includes the V2 head from us directly or from any TBparts dealer. The option cost is $115.00. Here is a link to our web site listing for the option:

http://www.hondatrailbikes.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=47&products_id=1092

Additionally, any existing V2 Head, stock KLX Head, and YX stock KLX type Head can be upgraded with this option for the same price of $115 plus shipping. If interested in upgrading your existing head, please contact our machine shop partner, Jamie, at carbonworks@comcast.net to arrange your head upgrade.

This is a special order item and can delay an order from 0 to 8 days depending on stock. Professionally machined and manufactured in the USA.

Re: TBparts V2 Decompression Head

We've been running this V2 Decomp head with a TB 184 big bore kit for over a month now.

Kyle Davis is using this head on the bikes that he won on at the 2Up Nationals and it is and has been working great. I def recommend it! Push the button in to activate it prior to kicking and thats it....when the engine starts the valve closes automatically.

It's easy to use, reduces stress on the kicker gears/bearings/case during starting, and makes it a lot easier to kick the big engines over (saves your foot and kicker!).

Been using them on big V twin for ten years, they work well and are reliable, just need to reset them each time you kick if it does not fire up right away.

i'm really liking this idea.
will an entire V2 head need to be purchased to get the option?

No, this only has to be reset prior to starting, not each time you kick....push the button once and kick away until it starts. It makes a "pop" when the engine starts and the button/valve automatically resets itself.

I wonder how long the turnaround is on sending the head away, I am super-interested, I just like to ride too much to be without my bike.

Re: TBparts V2 Decompression Head

This button was tested by McBride riders all summer. Very reliable! I can start my 184 with one hand. That no bulls*** either. It's all because of that button. I've seen dozens of kicker shafts break and case crack because of high compression. This is the simple answer. Worth the money! works like a charm. I also checked and you have to either send your head out or buy it on a V2.
