Re: 12" slicks

Frank Giannini or what ever his name has some VEE Rubber slicks........ Some of my local crew tried them........ on low powered bikes they worked quite well, anything over true rear wheel 12hp and they had issues........ 1 of them was even out of round in a big way.......

Maybe he'll sell them on a discount since we all sort of bailed out on them as "top shelf" race tires

He is the big importer on European pocketbikes, they big dollar stuff not th cheap Chinese stuff.......... google him up.

Re: 12" slicks

I have ran both the vee's and tt92's. the Vr did stick great but from the 1st time I looked them over, there was a peel across the tire like it was a recap or something, anyway it did not change the ride any. the tt92's last so much longer with the close to if not the same grip. if you want life out of it go w/tt92's. If you dont mind changing tires every 3 races go with the slicks.
I got 4 12 lap races and 2 open track days out of the slicks
I got 6 12 lap races and 2 open track days and are still using the 92's
bang for buck it 92's for me

Re: 12" slicks

I dont know about availability of Sava in the US, but this is the best type, if you are looking for the best grip. Yes, TT92 maybe last longer, but if you dont mind about money spent in tyres, go with these Sava´s MC31 in 120wide rear(not the 130). The very best i ever tried.
In my experience, they are usable for 4 15min races and 2 training days, and then they are really dead(middle like new, but sides are K.O.)

Re: 12" slicks

Crazy...

I'm 220 pounds and running 4 seconds off the 250's lap times on our Kart track running Michelin Boppers (scooter hoops) on my LXR. I ran the whole 7 race season plus trackdays on the same set of tires. Never slid, crashed or had a traction issue. Won every race. Tires still look like new and I'll more than likely get next season out of them too.

Re: 12" slicks

You know, not always is victory about tires or bike
I dont ride knee style, my style is like on big SM bikes, maybe thats the reason, why my tires went so fast off. But the Sava´s, they are really very soft compound...

Re: 12" slicks

If you can get them, I'll second the recommendation that you try Sava MC31s. Soft compound, very pressure sensitive. Get the pressures dialed in and they stick great, and are very predictable as you exceed their grip.

Seeing as PMT is making 12" slicks now, anyone know a PMT importer that could get some of their tires in for us to try?

What pressures worked well for you?
Maybe a starting point of sorts.

I run 15-16psi on the Bt601ss and ttt92's.
the Bt601ss are on the SM kx65 and tt92's on the NSR50 and Pitster LXM.

Where can a man get some 12" savas?

Re: 12" slicks

The Savas like higher pressures, and you pump them UP as it gets colder / wetter?! I was running 25psi on warm days, 29psi in the rain.
