street legal in CT

I am debating putting together a street legal mini in CT and was wondering if anyone has done this. I currently have a Motovert Pro and can possibly get a second one so I thought of building the second for the road. I don't have a title for these bikes but can probably get them registered as homemade. Just looking for advice from anyone that has done this.

Re: street legal in CT

I just did this with my 09 Pitster LXM and it was a pain. I didn't have to add much to the bike as it already has lights and turn signals but all the paperwork and the 3 trips to Wethersfield were a pain. I will run through what I had to do but it may be different because you do not have a certificate of origin.

All I had to add to the bike was
a front sprocket and chain guard (home made)
amber reflectors on the front of the bike
and a blue indicator light to show that the high-beams are on

So the inspections are done only in Wethersfield.
The bike has to be brought there on a truck or trailer and you need a permit or license to get the inspection done.

You have to go inside pay the fee and fill out the form for inspection of composite vehicle I think it was $80

The inspectors used this for the criteria for inspecting the bike.

Finally after I passed I had to take the inspection form, proof of insurance, and the certificate of origin to the DMV to get the plate. I also had to pay sales tax on my bike because it was not sold in CT so the registration fees and sales tax were about $180.

After everything I would say it was worth it the bike is so much fun on the road.

PM me if you have any questions. Don't call the DMV they told me the wrong information and made we take a wasted trip to Wethersfield.
