Re: Tires?

i have bt601s but they are hard to find (shawn at bms hooked me up with a set). Alot of people run the tt92's and have great response from them.

Re: Tires?

what type of riding will you be doing? if you are looking to rip it up on the track then get the tt92's or bt601s. if you are looking to just ride around on the pavement then get the pilots tires. i had the pilots on my bike just because they came with the rims that i purchased. They gripped pretty good but i had the wrong profile.

Re: Tires?

If you want good street/motard tires you need to go to a 12 inch rim.

Re: Tires?

If you're on a budget, try these for around $40 total:

IRC
NR77 Rear Scooter Tire
$17.99
IRC NR77 Rear Scooter Tire - Scooter - Tires - Motorcycle Superstore

Michelin
Gazelle M62 Moped Tire
$16.99 - $25.99
Michelin Gazelle M62 Moped Tire - Scooter - Tires - Motorcycle Superstore
Your front rim is narrow, get a consensus on which width is best.

Re: Tires?

(no sarcasm) Do you think those will hold traction with a KX85? That bike has a pretty good hit when it gets on the pipe. I would still go 12 inch wheels and tires. Probably cheaper in the long run.

If he's on a budget, what other choice does he have?

How much is a set of 2.15/2.5" rims laced to KX85 hubs with tire?

Not if your looking to shave down the lap times. But the fun factor would be there. hahaha.. look at me go!!!!!!

$300 or so.

I always looked at it different though. When I spent $500 a weekend on new race tires for my GSXR I figured that was cheaper than running used takeoffs and crashing. Good tires are what keep you from meeting the asphalt face to face.

Re: Tires?

Ya, if you shop around you can do better than that on prices though. I got a set of Rads with their hubs built and shipped for a hair over $600. Local shop wanted about $400 for hoops, spokes and labor with my stock hubs. I think if you shopped used you could do pretty well, I've seen them in the $300 range with rubber. Got TT-92's for $50 a pair with a couple of races on them. For scooter tires the Michelin Boppers have been good, I've raced them all season without any problems on my LXR.
