| wheels larger than 12"
my pitbke comes with a 14" front and i was wondering if any one has run 14 front and rear. second, the front is 2.5 and the only tire i seem to find that will fit(street tire) as a 2.75 width, would this have issues beading? same ol same ol idea of turning street legal, but i would like taller wheels. i will try and post pics of the bike when iget a chance. oh it isnt a high dollar pitbike just a honda clone 125, usd forks and a pretty nice aluminum swingarm, regular tubelar steel backbone frame. |

well im more interested about the handling issues that may or may not occur. i would suppose i need a wider 14" rear but how much wider. been lookin at this site and couple others, 14, 16, 19 inch dirt bike rim.. im not lookin to wow any one with italian parts or huge mod lists, just dont wanna sit too low in traffic. im 6'3" so every little bit will help, lol. im gunna research tire types to determine what rubber im gunna get. went and priced some michilin and contenental scooter tires. but im reading that the french arent the fav round here. the contenental are called contitwist i think the sizes i was looking at were 100/90-14 front and 120/90-12 rear. these were just guesses and welcome any advice. i will look into bride stone and dunlop i believe i read dunlop tt91/2 are good tires, but not clear on which bridgestone. sorry long reply thanx |

yup there is plenty of room even with a slightly wider rim. the rear wheel is only $75 so ill probablly go that route.

ok so until i can afford a 14 rear rim. how does this sound: my rim say 2.50-14 front and 3.00-12 on the rear, tires im considering are michelin pilotsport sc 120/80-14 and dunlop tt92 120/80-12. other than personal choice on traction and profile is there any thing wrong with these sizes. i have been taught not to have mixed tires, but cant find mathing(obviously). any advice?

You realize those tires are huge right? Your TIRES are 2.50" and 3.00", That would be the equivalent to a 63/100-14 front and 75/100-12 rear. I'm guessing you probably have 1.6" wide rims front and rear. Obviously nobody makes street tires as narrow as your dirt tires, but You shouldn't run a 120 on anything less than a 2.15" wide rim. I would look for a good 14" scooter tire for the front that is between 3.00x14" and 3.50x14". Then a TT92 100/90-12 for the rear would probably work best. |

For the front, IRC NR77 Front Scooter Tire $15.99. 70/90P-14 (2.75") Should ask PTECH how it worked out http://www.planetminis.com/f50/stree...-a-121994.html |

That tire is pretty much the perfect size. It comes to about 3" wide and 2.5" tall. I would try the 70/90-14 with a 100/90 rear.

it will work, but 100 will just be a better overall tire for your bike. a 100 is 4" wide, so it's not like it is a small tire. Wider rim does more than a wider tire. Pinched tires handle like crap.
