norcal - 408mx mini track?

I read there is a "mini" (or beginner) track at 408mx.

Is it for real? Anyone ride it and can omment on it?

(I suspect the big track is a bit too fast for the stock 110 engine.)

Re: norcal - 408mx mini track?

I went to 408mx today. It was good. There's a mini track with like 3 or 4 jumps (not huge), and a whoops section... It was a tad bit rough for the stockish 110 suspension (just have the front rods/springs and works shock in the rear). With some practice (and maybe a better suspension, and maybe a bit more power) I suspect I can master this track.

I also rode the CR250 (1988 model) on the big track... very nice... super sweet jumps that are good for everyone. It was a bit rutty, but it was at the end of the day.

Re: norcal - 408mx mini track?

I ride there and the new mini track looks like it would be fun. Small but, It would be fun. I think next time i go i will bring my mini because they split practice on the big track between big bikes and minis and at the least you could bang bars between practices. The people running that place are pretty cool and if enough people came there to ride the mini track they would for sure make it better. They are constantly making new tracks and changing layouts. They even have a flat track there but they wont let knobbies on it.

For some odd reason, that track reminds me so much of Milestone in SoCal

Uh.. yeah.. but I suspect not nearly as big of a place as milestone....
Milestone has like 3 big bike tracks.

But yeah, similar concept.

408 is a lot of fun! I've only gone there once with my CR250 but it was a blast for sure. Ralph and his team do a great job keeping it watered down too. He's a great guy to talk to and will take and apply your input on the track. There wasn't a mini track last I was there though, must be new? When I rebuild my zokes we should all shoot for a day out there for sure!

Yeah.. I'd be up fer a mini ride day at 408mx. Though schedules are always tough to coordinate. Heck I'd be up for ride days anywhere in sfbayarea.

Btw, anyone know who owns the nice track on highway 130 (the road that heads up to mt. Hamilton). It's a bit of a drive, but it looks like a nice practice track.
