| Head Breather Kit
I just got an 09 motovert with the new YX160. I've read some thing about head breather kits saying there is a noticable difference in kicking over the engine. I know AHP and MiniMob makes them, but the AHP is 20 bucks more. Basically, I'm wondering the the MiniMob breather kit comes with the breather lines like the AHP does. Thanks

I just went over the MiniMobs web site, and if I'm reading it correctly, it sounds like the MiniMob set only comes with 1 cover, not both. Anybody clarify this? Thanks

| Re: Head Breather Kit I wouldn't want one on the bottom. Hose accidentally comes off, bye bye oil.

I can see where your coming from. I would ditch the zip ties and safety wire on the hoses, this way I know they won't come loose. Anybody have good results with these?

How is this supposed to help with kicking the engine over? The piston rings and the valves seal the combustion chamber (hopefully) and a tappet breather would do nothing in the way of relieving compression. The breather would only release pressure built from the engine internals running at high rpms, and most engines come with a 'breather tube' on the transmission. If compression is relieved through a tappet cover, then you more than likely have a problem (valve seats worn, rings leaking, etc). I feel they are just a cosmetic upgrade = "Bling". And hey, everybody needs bling. |

they don't help with kicking them over but they do help with reliving the pressure from the top end. it is one of those thing s that it is better to have it and not need it or need it and not have it. use a hose clamp. |

Thinking out loud.... The head should vent through the crankcase vent since it is open to the crankcase. The oil galleys, cam chain opening, etc; they all open into the crankcase - correct? That is how the oil gets to the head components (one way) and back down into the crankcase. | |
