Re: lifan 140 review

this pic is of the bottom of the motor.
my question is about the oil cooler hookup. "B" is labeled, but not "A" so which one in the pic is actually "A" number 1, or #2.

is "A" or "B" the inlet? which is which

next quest. there are three wires coming from the lifan, whereas there are two coming from my honda motor, can i just use two of the wires from the lifan and be able to run my honda wire harness. i've been checking out the thread about wiring lifan and alot of people say use honda harness. I think that would be easier to use the two wires from the lifan to plug in the honda harness and just have an EXTRA wire not being used. btw i do have a harness that came with the lifan.

Re: lifan 140 review

#1 is the other oil tap. As far as the wires, you'll find the third wire is a ground, in addition to the normal exciter coil output, and pulse sender. Technically, you don't need to bother with the wire, I tie it to the harness ground just to be redundant.

Re: lifan 140 review

The oil tap on the case half is the output. The oil tap on the clutch cover is the input.

Re: lifan 140 review

i agree with kurlon./.. he knows his stuff and after looking around last night i found the same results... my motor SHOULD arrive today... im not going to post any pics of install just after i ride it and such... the motor is coming from SGR and the box of parts came yesterday and it was missing 4 crush washers... other than that everything that should have been in that box was in there...

Re: lifan 140 review

I will finally get to break in my Lifan 140 I got from OGM tomorrow. My forks are installed and all I have to do is grind down my axle spacers to fit. I got one side done last night and have to take a couple mm more off the other side and I'll finally be in business, thanks to Jeremiah at SGR!

Re: lifan 140 review

i made a mistake- there are five wires coming from the motor not three as i previously said in post #7.

yellow
white
green
blue w/white stripe
black w/red stripe

i can take the blue w/white and the black w/red stripe and plug them in the same place as were my honda motor plugged into the honda harness. THANKS for answering Kurlon and ALL

^well, that didnt work, so i went ahead and just used the harness that came with the engine. first heat cycle done. 3-6-08

Re: lifan 140 review

Well, I got one heat cycle through the 140 at lunchtime today. Seemed reluctant to start until I gave it a little throttle with the kick and it fired right up and idled nicely. That's all I had time for at lunch. I can't wait to ride this thing.

Re: lifan 140 review

alright, i heat cycled my motor like 10 times when i received it last week... (Reason being was a carb problem and i couldnt go past quarter throttle)..

come to find out one of the jets wasnt even installed into the carb and it was sitting in the bowl... i called Jeremiah @ SGR and let him know what happened and we had a good laugh (Again.. **** happens)... so anyways, i got to rev it after fixing it then i was off to work and didnt get to ride it till the day of our race...

i put about 20 laps on the track and realized it was way faster than the semi modded 125 i had... i found this out because traction was a way bigger issue now, i have the scars to prove it... i got sideways pushing up the lip of a step down and it bucked me off bad... but back to the story... i was running in 12 mod... i was in third till disaster struck... i got wadded up in the corner and bucked off (Too much back brake)... good thing was i still was in 3rd by the finish... guess what... there were 7 racers... i was in 3rd after 6 laps and the only 2 bikes to beat me were BBR framed, 150cc or bigger KLX 110's... they were hella built and ****ing fast as ****... i did very good ... all in all the motor is a very good motor... definately way more torque... i can feel the difference and it is worth the 330 i paid... i actually thrashed my hub cause my sprocket bolts came loose... lol... and im still happy... it makes the power... the hub came loose on me once b4 and it cracked it.. with new hub in place the same thing happened on this motor... ripped all 4 bolts out from the dig off the line starting in second gear (My fault... i use more loctite now) so it isnt going to break things on your bike but make sure your sprocket bolts are tight!!!

Re: lifan 140 review

What carb do you have on yours Vtec? Is it the mikuni/oko replica? Did you use the jets that were in it? Needle position?

Thanks!

Re: lifan 140 review

first off...... coming off an stock honda bottom, tb manual clutch, lightened flywheel, takeagawa 88-s stage(cam, hv oil pump,)

just got my heat cycles in, right now its cooling down. man, just at half throttle(maybe a little more) i can tell me likey like. BIG IMPROVMENT. need to do an oil change then the fun begins. thanks to all for the help!

chiro972b- i havent messed with the carb. at all, same jets, same needle position, same carb that came with it (? dont know). its spits and sputters(cold blooded) but it looks like its going to be just fine under a load(opinion from half throttle heat cycle)

Re: lifan 140 review

Im running the carb for the motor, it came with it and the ports match perfect so im guessing so....

i left the jets all stock and i think i may have done something to the needle position, i will pop it off tonight to see what notch its in, and im running .65 of a turn out on the air screw... jetting seems kind of lean out of the box...

so which is which. cause it looks to me that kurlon is saying from MY observations that (#1) is the FEED to the oil cooler as (B) is the RETURN from the cooler
My bad upside down through me off...just delete the post I deleted mine... and will delete this also after
